Mr. Neal, Mrs. Neal’s Gone With The Money

Chapter 36

Chapter 36

“I don’t. I asked her, but she didn’t tell me,” Mr. Yates replied. When he intended to investigate, Cynthia asked him not to intervene and said she would handle it alone. Yesterday, when he asked for the results, she just changed the subject and reminded him to pick up Shirley from the hospital.

Shirley hesitated to speak. She did not know if she should tell her father.

Mr. Yates noticed it and asked, “What’s wrong?”

“Maybe Cynthia didn’t tell you because she didn’t want to make it difficult for you,” Shirley answered after calming herself down.

“What do you mean?” Mr. Yates was taken aback. C0ntent © 2024 (N/ô)velDrama.Org.

“When I was being beaten up, I saw a man outside the alley. He was Mrs. Quinn’s brother. I told Cynthia, and she told me not to tell you,” Shirley said as her memories gradually became clearer.

Mr. Yates froze. Shirley really wanted to improve the relationship between Cynthia and him.

“I don’t know what happened between you two or why your relationship has turned this way, but since you care about each other, why can’t you sit down and talk it out?”

Mr. Yates remained silent, feeling guilty. He also wanted to have a good talk with Cynthia, but he knew she would never forgive him.

In the end, Mr. Yates still decided to keep it from Shirley.

“You’re still young. I’ll tell you when you’re an adult.”

“I’m already nineteen, so I’m legally an adult,” Shirley corrected him. Her heart surged with countless emotions. “I’m not the same little kid who only wanted candy and cried when facing. difficulties.”

Mr. Yates still did not say anything. There was an unspoken agreement between him and Cynthia not to tell Shirley about that incident until she found her happiness.

Shirley was frustrated. Cynthia was not telling her anything, and neither was her father. Were they planning to keep it a secret from her for a lifetime?

[Jimmy: Cynthia is having a face–off with Joshua!]

[Jimmy: Joshua is purposely making things difficult for Cynthia! Come and help her.]

Shirley clicked on the photos and saw Cynthia and Joshua were locked in a standoff in a fancy private dining room, glaring at each other. Even in the photos, it looked like they were about

to come to blows.

“Mr. Lorenzo, let’s go to the Platinum Restaurant,” she quickly ordered, sounding urgent.

The Platinum Restaurant was a members–only establishment in Nexuria, frequented by celebrities and people with significant influence in the business world, Regular folks had not chance of getting in.

Based on the photos Jimmy had sent, there seemed to be a business dinner, and besides Cynthia and Joshua, there were several other familiar faces.

Mr. Yates sensed Shirley’s anxiousness and asked, “What happened?”

“Cynthia and Joshua are facing off. I’m not sure what exactly happened, but Jimmy told me that Joshua is making things difficult for Cynthia,” Shirley explained.

“Mr. Lorenzo, take a shortcut.”

Mr. Yates also became anxious upon hearing that it was about Cynthia.

Jimmy was on edge now. His father had forced him to come along, saying he needed to meet a legendary figure in the business world and build relationships. However, Jimmy never imagined that the person his father was talking about would be Joshua.
