Man With Super Medical Skill (Matthew)

Chapter 3543 The Fiance Arrives

At that moment, inside the Governor's Keep on Ore Island, Orla had just finished reviewing a stack of documents when she noticed Toliver entering with a hint of urgency in his step.

"What's the matter, Toliver? Why are you in such a rush?"

Toliver's expression was heavy as he addressed her. "Mr. Dallinger has arrived, Governor-with a stranger. And that man claims to be your... fiance."

Orla's fair complexion shifted slightly as she quickly glanced toward Toliver. "Has Matteo returned yet?"

Toliver shook his head. "Mr. Larden hasn't made contact since he left for Larch Island. According to our correspondence with Larch Island's Governor's Keep, it seems that Mr. Larden left on some business."noveldrama

Orla's brows knitted together briefly before she composed herself. "Stall them for a bit. I need to change my clothes."

"Yes, Governor." Toliver acknowledged and strode out of the room while Orla headed toward her inner chambers. The best approach now was to create the illusion that she was already married.

"Please hold, gentlemen. The Governor is resting inside. Please wait here." Toliver stood firmly in front of Brennan, the warden of the Island Watch, and the unfamiliar man beside him.

Brennan looked at Toliver and raised his voice. "This man is the Governor's fiance -and future husband. Since when does a husband need permission to see his wife?"

The man beside Brennan, his face composed and friendly, spoke up with a gentle smile. "Mr. Dallinger, there's no need to be so forceful. Since Orla is resting, we can wait a little while."

Toliver remained silent, standing like a wall before them, unmoving and unyielding.

The stranger's gaze flicked toward Brennan with a hint of concern as he addressed Toliver. "Sir, Mr. Dallinger is advanced in age. I don't mind standing outside, but could we at least move to the guest hall so he can rest?" "No need to worry, gentlemen. Bring the furniture!" Toliver called out.

At his command, several servants quickly arrived, carrying chairs and a table, along with two large parasols to shield the men from the sun. The table was soon adorned with an assortment of snacks, tea, and beverages.

Toliver's smile was cordial as he gestured toward the setup. "Please, make yourselves comfortable. If you need anything, just let me know. The Governor's Keep is well-equipped for such occasions."

The stranger's pleasant demeanor faltered briefly, a flicker of anger flashing in his eyes. But he quickly masked it with a smile as he lowered himself into one of the chairs.

"Hmph. I'll wait right here until the Governor wakes up."

Both men sat down, clearly unwilling to leave until they had seen Orla.

Inside her room, Orla removed her purple gown, replacing it with a

modest yet elegant pale green dress. To further enhance the image of a married woman, she loosely pinned up her long hair, exuding the aura of a graceful, devoted wife.

Seating herself calmly, Orla waited until an hour had passed before rising from her chair. Stepping outside, she instructed one of the guards, "Find Mr. Lew and let him know that I've woken up."

"Yes, Governor. I'll inform him right away."

Beneath the large parasols, both Brennan and the stranger wore increasingly sour expressions. They had been sitting there for over an hour, yet Orla had shown no intention of meeting them.

Who does this wretched b*tch think she is, putting on airs like this? Brennan thought with a surge of anger.

Catching the stranger's eye, he was about to rise and force the issue when a guard rushed over. "The Governor has awoken!"
