Redmption 340
Redmption 340
I couldn't believe that my nose was bleeding. How embarrassing!
I'd only seen things like that happening
on TV before, and I'd thought that it was done just for comedic effect. I never imagined that it would happen to me.
"Mae, your nose is bleeding!" Brandon exclaimed, raising his hand to wipe it for me.
But I reacted faster, quickly pinching my nostrils and tilting my head back. "It's the heat."
"Is it because you haven't been drinking enough water? Brandon asked, very concerned.
"Yes, I guess so..." I had no choice but to blame it on dehydration.
Brandon took out some tissues for me. "You've been running around a lot these past few days, and haven't had time to drink enough water. I should h more attention."
He was blaming himself again.
But, in a way, he was right.
Even though the nosebleed wasn't from dehydration, it was indeed because of him.
Thankfully, the nosebleed stopped after a short while. Brandon immediately picked me up in his arms.
Among the throngs of people in the hospital, he was holding me like a giant doll. There wasn't a single person who didn't stare.
I couldn't stand it.
"Why are you carrying me? I can walk on my own. Put me down," I protested, hitting him lightly.
Brandon didn't respond. I knew the more I fussed, the more people would start speculating, so I just buried my head in his chest.
In the end, I didn't go to Lisa's resting room but returned to Ellie's ward instead.
Ellie, being a fellow woman, had some sanitary pads ready. Brandon even went out of his way to buy me some leak-proof panties to change into.
I didn't know how other girls interacted with their boyfriends. But I felt pretty embarrassed having him buy me leak-proof panties and sanitary pads. Ellie had to have been tired, as she was sleeping soundly. Neither Brandon nor I disturbed her.
"Do you have cramps?" Brandon asked, demonstrating his understanding of the situation.
I shook my head. “No.”
Now that I thought about it, it was strange. I didn't even realize that my period was here this time. It had come two days early.
Otherwise, I wouldn't have ended up in such an embarrassing situation.
"Brandon, I butted into something that wasn't my place today." I held the hot water he poured me, and told him about Jewel. "That's not being nosy." Brandon surprisingly disagreed with me.

I gave a mocking smile. "Brandon, k know you love me and you let me get away with a lot, but I made a mistake. Please don't let your love for me cloud your judgment."
"No." Brandon looked at me seriously. "You're not wrong at all. Stopping her from hurting the baby was the right thing to do. Regardless of the the faults of adults, it's
unacceptable to harm the unborn child. This is a matter of showing respect for and protecting life."
The last few words had a sacred quality to them, and I felt a pang of sentiment in my heart.
I gave him a suggestive rub with my leg. "As expected of Soldier Boy."
Brandon's voice caught in his throat as he tensed up. "Don't tease me."
I understood the meaning behind those words and couldn't help but chuckle.
I'd noticed that since being with Brandon, I laughed out loud more often. I could be as charming and flirtatious as I wished.
Brandon watched me laugh, and there was a soft smile on his lips too.
He was a straightforward and reserved man who rarely smiled. With his dearest sister still ill, his demeanor was even more somber.
It was often said that the most charming face of love was when you were being playful and he was amused by you.
I had always dreamed of the most perfect love, but my relentless pursuit ended in heartbreak. Yet, the
love that found me gave me
overy
everything I could have asked for.
Life was a journey filled with surprises. Keeping an open mind was important, for beauty often hid behind the unexpected.
"I heard from Lisa that Ellie's surgery might be delayed. Is that true?" I asked Brandon.
He uttered a soft, affirmative sound and said, "Mr. Marrow mentioned that they have already initiated the process of finding another heart donor."
