Chapter 572 Come Here
Anna tried to fight back, but in that moment, she truly understood just how vast
the difference in strength was between a man and a woman.
Taylor was rough with her, and she tried to struggle. "Taylor, let me go!"
"Taylor, please..."
"No! Don't do this."
He leaned in closer and whispered into her ear, "Anna, just be a good girl."
Tears rolled down Anna's face; she couldn't bring herself to respond.
Though she was thankful for the protection Taylor had given her all these years, that gratitude was never love.
Some lines, once crossed, can't be undone. Taylor didn't want Anna to continue living like a lifeless shell.
He wanted to reignite her spirit, even if it meant becoming the person she hated the most.
Without the will to live, a person becomes nothing more than a hollow shell.
From that night forward, Taylor stayed with Anna every single evening.
Anna's revulsion deepened with each passing day. She began to dread nightfall, flinching at the sound of his footsteps.
"Taylor, don't come near me ... "
Taylor said nothing. He just undressed in silence, loosened his tie, and walked toward her.
There was no warmth, no desire; it was cold, methodical, as if he were performing an orderly chore.
Real intimacy must be mutual. When it was just one-sided like this, how could it not be considered a form of abuse?
He hoped to shift Anna's focus away from the Sanders and, in truth, wanted her to conceive.
He believed a child would give her something to live for, something to pull her out of her numb, hollow existence.
When it was over, he gently carried her to clean up.
As he gently washed her, he felt a pang of guilt at the sight of bruises on her wrists and ankles.
Unable to hold it in, he brushed her cheek and asked softly, "There's a fair going on. Want to go check it out?"
Anna's lashes fluttered, just enough to betray what she was thinking.
She had been trapped inside for so long, she'd lost track of time.
Just stepping outside for some air would be a relief, and if she could somehow reach the Sander residence, even better.
Taylor helped her into a nightgown. "Be good and get some rest. Tomorrow, I'll take you out. I've got some time off. Why don't we stay the night out?"
Anna gave a faint nod at last.
The next day, she got dressed, fully aware of the tracker hidden on her and that Taylor was watching her every move.
It had been so long since she'd outdoors: The air felt freeing, a the temple buzzed with life,

"Anna," Taylor murmured, gently cupping her cheek. Her eyes brimmed with tears,
and his heart ached at the sight.
"Taylor ... how did it come to this?"
"I'm sorry."
It was all he could say. Nothing else would come out.
After some time, Anna composed herself and said, "Let's stay at this inn tonight. You can see the river from here."
The river flowed in the direction of the Sander residence. Being here made her feel just a little closer to home.
Taylor knew exactly what she was thinking, but he didn't say a word of objection.
He bought her all kinds of things, and the tension between them began to ease just a little.
That night, he reached for her again. "Anna ... "
He longed for her love, but that night, Anna gave him her body instead. She was obedient, and just enough to satisfy him.
She didn't wake until the next afternoon. After eating, she gazed down at the bustling street below.
And then, to her shock, she spotted Anna and Silas in the crowd!
She loathed them with every fiber of her being.
Seeing them unsettled Taylor, and he behind him.

She trembled from the cold, but she knew that this was her one shot at freedom.
She sprinted through the crowd, ignoring the stares, caring only about moving forward.
One desperate thought raced through her mind. Would anyone come to save me?
She needed a vehicle to take her far away from all this.
Then she spotted a black van not too far off. Something told her someone was inside.
She ran toward the car.
"Whitney!" Taylor's cold voice rang out from behind her.
Anna froze, trembling. "Help me! Please, someone help!"
She prayed someone inside that van would open the door and rescue her.
Her legs gave out, and she collapsed.
Taylor emerged like a predator, wrapping his arms around her quivering body. "Whitney, you've been misbehaving."
What do you think?
