Love at the 1939

Ashton wanted to fire again, but Amethyst hit her on the chest and sent her
flying backward. Even her gun had been snatched away.
“Ashton!!” Ashton’s companions cried out in surprise and rushed to check on
her.
Azure and Ash blocked their path.
“Hand over the Dragon Tome if you want to live.” Azure extended a hand and
marched toward them.
Roselynn was clutching the Dragon Tome. She knew her group would be
doomed if she handed it over to the envoys.
She made a decisive decision at that critical moment.
Before the envoys could react, she tore the scripture apart and threw it down
the cliff.

“You b*stard!” Aora was furious. He rushed over to catch the fragments. Even
though he was a powerful fighter, he couldn’t catch all of them.
“D*mn it! Kill that woman!” Amethyst barked an order.
Azure and Ash got into the ready stance. Their faces were twisted with
murderous intentions.
Julian shook his head in defeat. What a fierce decision. She’d rather destroy
the scripture than hand it to the criminals.
At that critical moment, Aora intercepted them. “Stop!”
Roselynn sneered. “We have memorized the scripture. You can never recover
its context if you kill us.”
She’d rather survive than die miserably. She knew bluffing to the merciless
envoys was the only way to survive.
Otherwise, she and her companions would be doomed if the Dragon Tome
fell into their hands.

She had to ensure that her group survived until Emmanuel came to rescue
them.
“You do have some tricks up your sleeve.” Aora looked at her with a hint of
respect and coldly stated, “Still, you may end up in a fate worse than death.
Are you ready for the consequences?”
She snorted and looked away without saying a word.
“Take them back!” Aora ordered. “Whether they have memorized the Dragon
Tome or not doesn’t matter. By holding them hostages, considering their
relationship with Emmanuel, it’ll benefit us in the future.”
“Yes!” His three henchmen immediately agreed. They stepped forward to
take one person each.
Meanwhile, the other side of the mountain rumbled. The ground shook,
indicating a tremendous force.
Although Gwain’s group departed later than Roselynn’s group, they arrived at

the foothills around the same time due to being trained fighters.

Taking advantage of the daylight, Gwain studied the Dragon Tome as well.
After memorizing it, he spent one hour practicing it.
But soon, he felt his breath quicken. He forced out the rage in his body with
flushed cheeks and avoided the fate of going mad and blowing himself up.
“What’s wrong, Mr. Gwain?” His companions hurried to his side.
“It’s a fake Dragon Tome,” Gwain concluded furiously.
“What?” Hank added, “Could you have misunderstood it or practiced with the
wrong method?”
Wyatt retorted, “Mr. Gwain is the once–in–a–century genius in the martial arts
world. He comprehends and learns the martial arts techniques easily. He
won’t have misunderstood it.”

Hank let out a strained chuckle. “I was just kidding. Even the most experienced
fighter makes mistakes.”
Gwain glared at Hank, displeased with the comments. Lastly, he refrained
from adding anything and fixed his gaze ahead.
The next moment, the Great Four Envoys appeared before them.
“Oh? Fancy to meet you here. Aren’t you guys Teddy’s lapdogs?” Hank
mocked.
As a retainer of the Lannister family, he was quite familiar with the Tanner
family and Teddy Tanner.
He knew Aora too. The other man was a renowned figure in the martial arts
world before becoming the envoy. Nobody expected him to serve Teddy
loyally.
Amethyst was the only woman among the four envoys. She was
hot–tempered. When Hank insulted them, she immediately wanted to fight
him.

Reaching out to stop her, Aora turned to Gwain. “Mr. Gwain, were you
practicing the Dragon Tome?”
“It’s none of your business.” Gwain rose to his feet sternly and tried to leave.
Although he looked down upon Teddy’s lapdogs, he didn’t want to fight them
either.
