Chapter 850 The Struggle to Hold Back or to Act
As Noah's lips landed on Chloe's cheek, she was startled and abruptly pushed him away.
"I'm sorry. I'm still not ready..."
Her words came out in a rush. She did not understand what was happening to her. She knew she was being selfish, but she could not control it.
Noah's expression darkened, a mix of anger and disappointment swirling within him. His suppressed frustration erupted like a volcano. Something inside his head snapped as he threw himself at her, tearing away her flimsy sleepwear.
"I heard you saying Joseph’s name in your sleep! Am I really that detestable in your eyes?! After five years, do I still have to force my way in?!" Noah shouted, his words filled with a volatile mixture of emotions.
Chloe's pupils dilated, and she instinctively covered her exposed chest. "No! Please don't! I didn't reject you intentionally!"
She could not explain why Joseph had appeared in her dreams. Also, she understood why Noah had suddenly changed. It turned out she had unintentionally hurt him.
"Not intentional? Then why are you resisting me? Tell me!" Noah snarled, his eyes turning crimson and his demeanor bordering on madness. He was obsessed with extracting a clear answer he was fully aware of.
The once gentle young man had vanished entirely.
A tremor ran through Chloe's heart, her face showing a hint of self-blame. Noah's transformation was partially her fault.
"I won't resist you anymore. You're right. We'll eventually be husband and wife." NôvelDrama.Org owns this text.
With those words, Chloe ceased struggling. Her eyes reddened as she gazed at him, looking both pitiful and innocent.
A pang struck Noah's heart. He did not want to obtain her in this way, but he was truly furious. No man could accept their fiancee calling another man's name in her dreams. It was a grave insult.
Under the influence of alcohol, Noah tore the last of Chloe's clothing apart, leaving her supple body exposed to the air and making her shiver involuntarily. Meeting her eyes, he battled his desire to hold back and his stronger urge to dominate her.
He was a normal man, so he had his desires. Accepting this fact seemed to give him a legitimate reason. He leaned down to embrace her, savoring her exquisitely smooth skin beneath his fingertips.
Knock, knock, knock.
"Are you in there, Mr. Noah?"
As Noah was about to take the next step, the sudden knocking on the door shattered the atmosphere of the room. Chloe hurriedly wrapped herself in the blanket, her face pale as she huddled in a corner.
Noah frowned and asked, "Yes. Anything?"
"Mr. Desmond heard some noise from upstairs and asked me to come up and check."
"We're fine."
"Okay, sir. Mr Desmond wants you both to rest early and not to stay up late."
"Got it. I'll be going to bed now," Chloe quickly responded. She was grateful that her grandfather had come in the nick of time. Otherwise, she might not have escaped this situation tonight.
Though displeasure flickered across Noah's face, he nodded nonetheless. "You should go to bed early, Coco. I'm sorry about this. I had too much to drink, and my emotions got the better of me. I hope I didn't scare you."
Joseph would be gone for good by tomorrow. As long as he died, what harm would it do to wait a few more days?
Chloe pressed her lips together and sighed in relief. "Goodnight."

At the Whitman family home, Joseph ordered Vince as he tucked Jasper into bed, "Bring Vanya to me."
"Okay, sir."
Vanya had been left to her own devices since she was brought back here and her mental state had improved quite a bit. Now, she could manage a few steps without relying on a wheelchair. She followed Vince into the room.
As she glanced around the room, a hint of surprise flashed across her face. "Where's Chloe? I thought she’s the one who cared most for her child's well-being?"
