Chapter 25 How To Discipline A Drunkard
'With me, not for me,' Darya corrected.
'But I-' Bianca was undecided.
'You have the qualifications. You have the experience. And I know I could trust you a hundred per cent.'
The Zimmermanns had their own family business.
Bianca was being groomed to eventually take up the mantle of CEO.
She didn't need the job at Paragon, but she knew what Darya was trying to do, and she was grateful.
Yet, she hesitated when she glanced at Avery. 'Are you sure that's a good idea?' Darya nodded. 'Of course. What do you think, Chief?'
'I think Miss Zimmermann will be a valuable asset to our company,' Avery said with a straight face.
'See? The bossman himself has given the nod. You've got the job if you want it.'
Bianca shot Darya an appreciative look. 'I'll take it then.'noveldrama
Darya smiled. 'Welcome aboard.'
Everything she said about needing Bianca's help was true.
If having Bianca working at Paragon gave her more opportunity to spend time with
Avery, well, that was just a nice side benefit, wasn't it?
Avery leaned back in his chair and listened politely as Darya and Bianca compared notes on their favourite
desserts.
He waited for the girl talk to wind down before announcing, 'Callan's coming back soon."
'He is?' Darya was delighted.
As the third son of the McAllister family, Callan was just a year and a half older than Darya.
The two of them were thick as thieves when they were kids, and often got into mischief together.
Darya sighed. 'I haven't seen him in ages.'
While Avery inherited their father's business acumen, Callan inherited their mother's musical talent.
The singer/songwriter had shifted his career focus overseas after winning the country's most prestigious music
award.

'Do you have his flight info? Darya asked. 'I want to pick him up at the airport'
Avery tapped on his phone. 'Let me check on that.'
After dinner, the trio sauntered into a bar next door to have a digestif.
Everyone was in a good mood.
Avery was glad his sister had taken the time to enjoy herself.
Bianca was pleased she'd soon be working alongside her secret crush.
Darya couldn't wait to see Callan, who was both a brother and a close friend.
Callan sometimes joked that while Bianca was Darya's girl BFF, he was her guy BFF.
'Order me a Campari, will you?' Bianca got up from her seat. 'I need to visit the loo,'
When she failed to return after ten minutes, Darya grew concerned. 'I'll go check on her.'
'Do you want me to come with you?' Avery asked.
'No. She's probably in the ladies' room.'
Darya wound her way around the tables and followed the lit-up signs to the
restrooms.
She spotted Bianca at the end of a hallway, held up by a man who had his back to Darya.
'Come on, it's just one kiss.'
The man's slurred speech told Darya he was drunk.
Furious, Darya sprinted over, just in time to hear the loud slap Bianca delivered.
'Fuck!' The man touched his face. 'You are gonna pay for that, bitch!'
He grabbed Bianca's shoulders roughly.
'Get your filthy hands off her!' Darya kicked the man in the back of his left knee, which sent him lurching sideways.
She caught Bianca's arm and pulled her friend behind her.
'Who the fuck are you?' The man braced a hand against the wall for support.
Though the man was dressed neatly in a black suit and tie, his eyes were red- rimmed and his breath stank of
alcohol.
'You know this guy?' Darya asked Bianca.
'No. He came out of nowhere and tried to hit on me.'
'Did he touch you?'
'No.'
'Call the police.'

Bianca took out her phone.
The man stumbled forward.
He narrowed his eyes. 'Must be my lucky time. Two hotties in one night.
He smacked his lips, then grabbed his crotch. 'Now, which one of you ladies
would like to take a ride on my
joystick?'
Darya sneered. 'I'm afraid I won't be able to find your joystick without the help of a magnifying glass.'
It took the man's alcohol-addled brain a long minute to process the insult.
When it finally registered, he snarled, 'Fuck you!'
Darya ignored him. 'Come on, Bianca. Let's get out of here.'
The man shifted to block their path. 'Did I say you could leave?"
Darya glanced at him dismissively. 'I don't need your permission. Step aside.'
The man reached out a hand to touch Darya's face. 'You are a feisty one, aren't you? Playing hard to get―'
The rest of his words died in his throat as Darya punched him in the solar plexus. The man grunted and doubled over in pain.
Darya stomped on his instep, then shoved him out of the way.
'Nice moves, Dolly.' Bianca poked her head over Darya's shoulders. 'Was that Taekwondo?'
'Muay Thai.' Darya rotated her wrist. 'I remember you took self-defence classes.
Why did it take you so long to get rid of the lecher?'
Bianca shrugged. 'I just had my nails done. Didn't want to ruin them."
Darya laughed. 'Let's go. Avery's waiting.'
Bianca smoothed down her dress. 'How's my hair?'
'Perfect.'
Darya had scarcely taken two steps when she stopped, looked down, and saw a
hand grab onto her slim ankle.
The drunkard who'd been put out of action glared up at her out of red-rimmed
eyes.
Darya just raised her right foot and crushed the man's hand with her heel.
'Aaaah!' He screamed in agony.
'You probably broke his fingers, Bianca observed.
'He deserved it.' Darya shrugged.
'You're not getting away with this!' The man crawled away from Darya. 'Do you
fucking know who I am?'
Darya looked at Bianca. 'Why do you think they always do that? Announcing themselves while they are committing a crime?'

Must have watched too much TV. Bianca took a second, closer look at the man's
face. 1 think I know hir
'Yeah? Who's the joker?
I used to see him around at clubs-golf, yacht, wine. He's a Holden, I think."
'Holden, as in Holden Industries?
