Chapter 1108: Not Much to Miss After a Meeting

The next morning, Sandy returned to Manches City with Stella.

Brandon saw them off at the airport and repeatedly gave a few more instructions before letting them go

in.

"Why does Brandon treat you like a child?" Stella whispered as they walked.

Sandy turned around three times before answering Stella's question after Brandon was out of sight,

"He loves me."

Stella: "..."

"Since you're coming back to Manches City with me, you have responsibilities. You're part of the

Hawkins family now. When you're back there, behave properly, okay?"

Sandy pouted, "Stella, why are you becoming like Brandon? I've been hearing his nagging for the past

two days."

"It's all because he's worried about you. Don't think that just because no one's overseeing you now, you

can do whatever you want."

Sandy hooked her arm through Stella's, "Sis, don't worry. I know my situation pretty well now. I'll make

sure to call you when I'm heading out. It won't be like before, when I was clueless."

Stella felt relieved hearing Sandy's words.

...

Manches City, D-king Castle.

Yanis had been unable to stay awake lately.

During the day, she would finish lunch and then lie down on the sofa, sleeping until it was time for a few

bites of dinner. Afterward, she would watch TV for a while. Sometimes, she would fall asleep before a Content is property of NôvelDrama.Org.

single episode was over. This nap would continue until the time for dinner, and she would wake up

naturally without needing anyone to call her.

In the evening, after dinner, if Zane didn't coax her out for a walk, she might fall asleep again.

"Alice, why is Mrs. Lawrence sleeping again?" Aunt Gloria had just finished washing the fruit and asked

Yanis to eat some. But as soon as she came out of the kitchen, Yanis was already asleep on the

couch.

Aunt Alice, hearing the question, peeked out of the kitchen and saw Yanis sleeping on the couch. She

sighed, "She might be having excessive sleepiness for a while. But it's better than the morning

sickness like Miss Thompson's. That's much worse."

"Kids nowadays, their constitutions are weak." Aunt Gloria put the fruit back, "I'll go get a blanket to

cover Mrs. Lawrence."

Aunt Alice nodded, "Mrs. Lawrence mentioned that she wanted to eat shrimp dumplings today. I'll go

buy the ingredients."

Aunt Gloria agreed, and then went to find a blanket for Yanis.

Just as Aunt Gloria was about to get up to prepare the ingredients for the shrimp dumplings, the

doorbell rang.

Thinking it was Aunt Alice, Aunt Gloria was mumbling about why the doorbell was rung again, when

she opened the door and her words trailed off.

Ryan was standing at the door, looking a bit awkward.

Aunt Gloria had heard about some things, so for a moment, she wasn't sure whether to invite him in or

to call for Yanis to wake up.

As Aunt Gloria hesitated, Ryan spoke first, "I'm here to see Yanis, I have something I want to talk to her

about. Is she home?"

Aunt Gloria decided to let the guest in, "You can come in first. Mrs. Lawrence is asleep."

Ryan didn't immediately enter like Aunt Gloria, he stood at the doorstep and said softly, "Could you

please help me call her in?"

Seeing Ryan's determination, Aunt Gloria didn't say anything more, just nodded, turned, and walked

towards the living room.

When she stood in front of Yanis, Aunt Gloria softly called Yanis a few times.

Yanis slowly opened her eyes and looked at Aunt Gloria in front of her, "What's wrong?"

Aunt Gloria helped her sit up, "Mrs. Lawrence, there's a gentleman outside looking for you."

Yanis was still a bit dazed, "Who?"

Aunt Gloria whispered, "It seems to be Mr. Baxter."

After hearing Aunt Gloria's words, Yanis fell silent for a while, seeming to come to her senses. She got

up and sat, "Aunt Gloria, can I have a glass of water?"

Aunt Gloria agreed and went to fetch a glass of water, handing it to Yanis.

After drinking the water and setting down the glass, Yanis stood up and said, "I'll go check."

Aunt Gloria hesitated and asked in a low voice, "Mrs. Lawrence, should I inform Mr. Lawrence?"

Yanis hesitated, "No need, I'll check it out. You can tidy up here."

Aunt Gloria looked at Yanis as she walked towards the door. She waited until Yanis was out of sight

before she turned to tidy up the living room.

When Yanis reached the door, Ryan was on the side, answering a call. There was a hint of

helplessness in his voice, "I understand. Can you calm down first? I know, alright, I'll be back soon."

After hanging up, Ryan let out a deep sigh before turning to face Yanis.

When he saw Yanis standing at the door, Ryan was slightly taken aback before greeting her, "Yanis, I'm

disturbing you again."

"Come in." Even if Yanis didn't want to see Ryan and Madison, she couldn't just shut the door in Ivan's

father's face, especially considering Ivan's feelings.

Ryan hesitated, standing at the door, wondering whether to follow Yanis inside.

"Uncle Baxter, you can come in, Zane isn't home." Yanis said, then turned and walked into the house.

Ryan hesitated for a few seconds before stepping inside the house, not taking off his shoes. He just

stood by the door.

"You don't need to take off your shoes, just come in." Yanis whispered.

Ryan hesitated for a moment, then followed Yanis inside.

"Aunt

Gloria, can you bring us two glasses of water?"

Once Yanis and Ryan were seated, Yanis instructed Aunt Gloria.

Aunt Gloria complied and brought two glasses of water, placing them in front of Yanis and Ryan. She

then excused herself and left the room.

Yanis didn't speak first, she waited for Ryan to start the conversation.

"Yanis, I came today to talk about your... your aunt." Ryan's voice was hesitant.

Yanis had already guessed the reason for Ryan's visit when she heard Aunt Gloria mention him earlier.

Aside from this matter, Ryan wouldn't have come to see her for anything else.

Her suspicions had already centered around this one issue.

Yanis held her glass of water and took a few sips, then finally spoke, "Uncle Baxter, I've made myself

quite clear before. Why can't you understand?"

"I know, but... she doesn't have much time left." Ryan's voice was soft, carrying a suppressed emotion.

After hearing Ryan's words, Yanis fell silent for a few seconds before asking, "So, what do you want?"

"Visit her, occasionally. Just occasionally." Ryan's voice held a trace of hesitation, and he looked at

Yanis, "Not many times. Maybe after you visit her once, she won't have much to miss."

Ryan's words were veiled, implying that if Yanis visited her aunt, her aunt might not have much to

regret in this world.

Yanis furrowed her brows, "And what about Ivan? Have you thought about him?"
