Chapter 272
Chapter 272
The man snorted and commented disdainfully, “Mr. Yiurk, you were right. There is nothing in this world that money can't solve!”
“Yeah. Wrap tilings up properly. Don't let those people suspect Yiurk Group.”
“Don't worry, Mr. Yiurk. I've already tampered with the scene. No one will be able to tell that the accident happened because of Yiurk Group's mis—•”
Immediately, Hanson raised liis hand and knocked on the table.
Realizing liis slip-up, the man chuckled and slapped liis own cheek.
“I'm sony. I spoke unnecessarily.”
With that, the video on the screen came to an end.
Silence filled the room as everyone tried to recover from their shock.
Angeline was also surprised, but she did not react with exaggeration as the others did. Her brows were deeply fun'owed as she appeared deep in thought.
This must be the surprise Jonathan was talking about at the cafe last time. He really went all out! He knows how much Hanson cares about his reputation, yet he exposed the latter so bluntly.
At that moment, Hanson was standing frozen on the stage, his face terribly grim.
He had specially ordered his subordinates to carefully examine the surroundings that day. and they did not find anything suspicious.
He had no idea how this video was taken.
“It turns out that the accident involving Sorelie Group was Yiurk Gioup's doing. Mr. Yiurk. why don't you give us an explanation?”
“Mr. Yiurk, you even schemed against your own wife. Don't you feel guilty at all?”
“Does Sorelie Gioup's bankruptcy also have something to do with you?”
Hanson was bombarded with harsh questions, and he could not escape at all as people encircled him on the stage.
Rapid camera flashes hit him in an instant, giving him no time to dodge at all.
Angeline was unfortunately stuck in the middle of the crowd, helplessly shoved around as people jostled against each other.
“Wait! Cahn down, everyone!” she yelled, but her voice was drowned out by the clamor.
Amidst the chaos, someone pushed her forcefully.
As pain shot up from her ankle, she lost her balance and toppled over the side of the stage.
“Ahh!”
She gasped instinctively, her eyes widening in honor.
Right when her body was inches away from the floor, she closed her eyes in despair and prepared herself for the impact.
At that crucial moment, she felt someone's arm wrap around her waist securely and pull her away from the floor.
Thud!
Angelinas eyes watered as she slammed into a man's broad chest. His chest was so firm that she felt as though she had bumped into a rock.
“Carefill.”
A man's deep voice sounded beside her ear. Despite the noise around them, liis voice was clear.
In an instant, Angelinas mind began buzzing.
She had heard this familiar voice countless times in her dreams.
The man pressed Angelinas head against liis chest and left the venue with her.
Although she couldn't see what was going on, liis steady heartbeat gave her a sense of security.
Not long after, the commotion around them faded into quietness.
“You can open your eyes now.”
The icy voice snapped Angeline out of her thoughts.
After scanning their messy surrounding, she realized they were in the dressing room.
Evander had brought her to the safest place he could find.
Angeline felt a warm sensation in her heart. Nevertheless, she still felt awkward when she lifted her head to look at him.

“No problem,” replied Evander.
He did not spare a glance at Angeline as he spoke. It was as if she was a total stranger to him.
When she noticed liis cold attitude, a sad look crossed her face.
Does he not want to see me at all? Then why did he even come here?
Angeline tried her best to keep her emotions at bay and pretend to be calm. Gazing at Evander solemnly, she said, “Mr. Golding, it probably won't take long for today's news to trend.”
“Yeah.”
Yeah?
His nonchalant answer threw Angeline off guard. She clenched her jaw and added. “I won't mind if someone snaps a photo of you holding me in your aims, but it won't be good if your fiancee finds out.”
She purposefully put her emphasis on the word “fiancee.”
Evander turned to look at her intently. There was an unreadable look in liis eyes.
He asked casually, “You're scared?”
“Scared? Why should I be scared?” retorted Angeline with a prideful expression. “I didn't do anything wrong. On the contrary, you better stay away from me. Mr. Golding. I won't be responsible for dealing with your family affairs for you.”
“You can rest assured. Olivine isn't the type to be unreasonable,” Evander said, liis voice as magnetic as usual.
Although he did not say much to defend Olivine, Angeline wasn't pleased to hear liis words.
He's protecting her, isn't he? Indeed, childhood sweethearts have a deeper bond. Is he subtly showing off how understanding his fiancee is?
With that in mind. Angeline felt upset.
Her voice turned frosty as she snapped back, “Well noted on you and your fiancee's loving relationship, Mr. Golding. If there's nothing else, I'll return to the venue to deal with the matter.”
After saying that, she lowered her eyes to hide her emotions and tinned around to leave.
It just occurred to her that she and Evander had long drifted apart without her knowing.
Since tilings could never return to the way they were before, it was best for them to cut off their ties completely.
As Angeline came to terms with that, she looked a bit relieved.
Since Evander has already let go, what's the point of holding on so tightly?
While Evander watched Angeline walk away, liis eyes dimmed. A throbbing pain filled liis heart as if someone was squeezing it with all their might.
From the very beginning, he had always made choices that were beneficial to Angeline even if it meant being apart from her.
Yet at the sight of Angeline and Hanson standing on the stage together, he felt utterly bitter and envious.
He was gradually realizing how possessive he actually was over Angeline.
Sadly, he did not have any right to stop her.
Just like what Angeline had mentioned, they had long broken up.
Evander's figure looked forlorn as he remembered that. Even when the faint light hit liis side profile, liis eyes were dull and spiritless.
