Goodbye, Mr. Regret

Chapter 265

Herbert wasn't any less angry just because Jessica tried to stop him.

What Timothy had done to Jessica was simply unforgivable.

The girl they all called Little Mute couldn't speak, and all her family was gone. Life had already handed her more than enough pain.noveldrama

If she'd agreed to marry Timothy, it was certainly out of genuine affection.

And how had Timothy treated her in return?

Every time Herbert thought about all those nights Little Mute must have spent crying herself to sleep because of Timothy's relentless cruelty, his heart twisted with pain and fury. He wanted nothing more than to take a swing at Timothy himself, knowing even that wouldn't be enough to vent his anger.

But he understood why Little Mute was worried-so he forced himself to rein in the raw aggression that threatened to spill over.

"I'm sorry. I lost my temper," he muttered.

Meanwhile, Timothy let go of Vince's hand and strode off toward the main entrance of Lawson Enterprises.

He couldn't stand to see Jessica right now.

"Timothy..." Vince called after him, following close behind.

Herbert shot them a glance, then turned to Jessica. "Let's go."

He didn't want Jessica standing out here any longer.

What kind of attitude was that from Timothy, anyway? Playing the gallant protector for show, then walking off without a word.

Jessica had no desire to linger at the entrance to Lawson Enterprises either. She picked up the golf club she'd dropped and followed Herbert to the car.

She knew she'd have to talk Herbert down later.

Inside, Timothy made a beeline for the ground floor restroom.

He leaned over the sink, bracing himself against the cool marble, and spat a mouthful of blood into the basin.

Just then Vince came in. Seeing the blood, his eyes widened in shock. "Herbert really didn't hold back, did he?"

No wonder Timothy had kept his lips pressed tight and hadn't said a word.

Timothy turned on the faucet,

washing away the blood, then

scooped up some water to rinse his

mouth. His eyes, cold and sharp, flicked to Vince. "So. The three of you were together, huh?"

Nothing seemed to get past Timothy.

Vince tried to change the subject, feigning concern. "You're coughing up blood. That's probably internal bleeding-we should get you- checked out at the hospital. If it's serious-"

"Why were you with them?" Timothy's voice cut him off, harder than steel.

Vince kept up the act. "Seriously, you should see a doctor. Don't ignore it and end up with something worse."

Timothy wasn't having it. His tone was ice-cold. "I told you before: stay out of things between me and her. I won't say it a third time."

This was his second warning.

Vince tried to defuse the tension with a wry smile. "What's the big deal if I meet up with her? What, you think she'll divorce you?"

Timothy let out a bitter laugh. "I don't agree to it. Think she can leave me that easily?"

"Never say never. My lawyer says no marriage is unbreakable. I saw what just happened out there-you could've dodged Herbert's swing, but instead you took the hit to Shield Jessica. If you care about her, maybe start acting like it. You're not the only one who wants to make her happy."

Timothy shot him a look. "Does that include you?"

Vince's face went stiff. He stammered, "What are you talking about?"

Timothy's gaze darkened. "You know exactly what I mean."

It was one thing for strangers to covet his wife-but Vince? A friend he'd grown up

with, now eyeing his own wife?

Did everyone around him think he was just some ghost?
