Chapter 745
The last note faded, and Drake hadn't played a single key.
Afraid the crowd might notice it, the manager swiftly signaled the security team to disperse the onlookers.
Debra looked sideways at Drake. "Mr. Lowe, did I meet your requirements?"
He had demanded that she attract a thousand people, but the crowd in the square had far exceeded that number.
Drake's scrutiny lingered on her a moment too long, making Debra squirm. "Mr. Lowe?"
Snapping out of his thoughts, he stood up and muttered, "You've met the minimum standard."
In fact, she had far exceeded his expectations.
"You know how to create buzz and how to leverage people when necessary. Seems like you've got more than just a bit of cunning."
"That's for sure."
"I wasn't complimenting."
Turning to the manager, he ordered, "Get her into a proper uniform and then bring her back."
"Yes, boss."
"Wait," Debra interrupted. "You're not going to let me deal cards anymore?"
She had worked so hard to get close to Drake's inner circle, and if he denied her that chance now, everything she had done would be in vain. "With your petty tricks, I'm afraid you'll lose all my assets."
"I..."
"Get her out of my sight. She's irritating me."
With that, he turned on his heel and walked away, leaving the manager with a newfound respect for Debra.
"Ms. Frazier, this way, please."
Debra was frustrated, but at least, she could stay.
The manager ted her through the
back area of the casino, explaining,
"This is the first time Mr. Lowe has personally taken charge of a
newcomer. It's clear he's paying
swnevel
special attention to you, Ms. Frazier."
"Special attention?" Debra scoffed.
He had kidnapped her and taken her all the way here to Orkgate, using her as leverage against Marion.Content (C) Nôv/elDra/ma.Org.
If someone didn't know better, they might think he had feelings for her. Only she knew his true aim.
If Marion came to Orkgate, it would be a death sentence for both of
them. Debra wondered if Drakee
was
the one who had pressured Ralph to murder her parents.
The thought of it alone sent chills through her.
"Ms. Frazier, here is your working uniform," said the manager, handing her an evening dress more luxurious than what she was wearing.
She took it and headed to the
dressing room. When she came out,
the golden dress accentuated her
O`
fair skin and highlighted her O curvaceous figure.
The manager was impressed.
"Ms. Frazier, you look stunning in this dress. You're gonna be popular among the guests."
"Well, may I ask what position Mr. Lowe has assigned me to? A pianist?"
A pianist dressed like this wouldn't be unusual in a place like this. Attracting customers was all that mattered.
"You'll see. Do well, and you will earn at least this much every month."
