Game Over No Second Chances

Chapter 407

"The food really wasn't the issue." Serena's voice was calm, but her eyes were sharp.

She had been there the entire night without a proper bite to eat. Even the juice was sugar-free, freshly pressed from hand-picked fruits. It was so sour and bitter that it made one's mouth pucker.

Two teardrops slipped from the corners of Sarah's eyes. "It's not the food... It's just that Serena poured champagne all over me."noveldrama

"What? Serena, she's your sister! How could you do something like that at such a big event?" Rachel turned back sharply, instantly switching to weeping and wailing alongside her daughter.

Serena simply looked at them, cold and unbothered. She said, "The champagne was poured from head to toe. Did it burn through your stomach lining or something?

"But judging by your ignorance, maybe it did sear through your skull and fry your brain. I'll ask the doctors to include a CT scan of your head, just in case."

Serena had actually admitted to pouring the champagne?

Rachel was stunned speechless by her brazenness and sprang to her feet, clutching Howard's arm.

"Howard, is this the daughter you've raised? Look what she's done! Sarah's ended up in the hospital, and she still has the nerve to mock her!"

Howard roared, "Serena! Why would you pour champagne on your sister? If anything serious happens to her, I swear-"

"If a glass of champagne is enough to threaten her life, then she doesn't belong on this planet. You might as well get her buried early and do the planet a favor."

Serena's voice was like a blade-icy, clean, and cutting.

Howard's face turned purple with rage. He pointed a trembling finger at her but couldn't squeeze out a single word.

Rachel looked like she might faint from the breath she'd just inhaled. She was too upset to even shout back.

She clutched her belly with one hand, as if afraid to upset her own health, while the other clung to Howard for support.

Sarah was left gasping with anger, her eyes wide with disbelief.

Only Melissa stood aside with her arms crossed, watching Serena verbally slice through the entire family. Her expression had turned thoughtful.

Had Serena always been this sharp-tongued?

Melissa had always assumed the two sisters were aligned, a united front.

But now, it was crystal clear. Serena was her own person, and the Jansen family was the Jansen family. Serena stood apart from them.

Just then, the door opened.

Cole returned with the doctor behind him and a report in his hand. His expression was dark and unreadable.

Melissa's eyes lit up with a spark of hope as she quickly walked over in her high heels.

"What is it? Does Sarah have some kind of rare illness? If she's sick, then maybe the Larson family should..."

But one glance at the report silenced her immediately.

The doctor spoke before anyone else could. "The patient is nearly eight weeks pregnant. Who on earth let a pregnant woman drink alcohol?

"It's a good thing she's young. The baby is fine, but be careful. These first three months are crucial."

Sarah's eyes lit up in stunned delight. She grabbed Rachel's hand in a death grip.

"Mom!"

"My daughter... my precious daughter!" Rachel nearly broke down sobbing with joy.

Sarah was carrying a baby of the Larson family. She was locked in-officially. The ring might not be on yet, but her status was now unshakable.

But not everyone was happy.

Howard's and Melissa's faces looked absolutely ghastly.

Just then, a deafening slap cracked through the hospital room.

Melissa's palm left a red print on Cole's face.

"Cole!" Sarah gasped, half-rising from the bed. "Why are you hitting him? I'm pregnant. How is that a bad thing? In a few months, he'll

dad, and you'll be a grandmother!"

"So what if I hit him?" Melissa snapped, fury in every syllable. "I gave birth to him

before you were even conceived!"

She jabbed a finger at the report, then turned to glare at Cole like she was

burning a hole through him.

"You really are my good-for-nothing

son. Your father and I came from

respectable families-we have

reputations to maintain! You just got

engaged, and now she's two months

pregnant?

"You've clearly been fooling around with this little tramp for months! Don't tell me

you didn't know she was pregnant.

"You planned this, didn't you? You

waited until your grandpa gave his blessing, then used this baby to make her the default choice for your wife! Tell me what do you see in her?"
