Chapter 952
Nathan dashed off in a whirlwind. The butler swiftly shut the door, catching Luke's foot, which was still lingering on the threshold. The sudden jolt made him yelp in pain.
Reflexively grabbing his foot, Luke accidentally sent Zachary sprawling. Zachary found himself face-down on the ground once more, rolling down a couple of steps and letting out a muffled groan. "Dad!"
Luke snapped back to reality and hurriedly helped him up. "Dad, what are we gonna do now?"
Who would've guessed Flora had ties with Nathan? From Nathan's tone, it sounded like he wanted Flora to be his mentor, though she hadn't given her nod yet.
Zachary, shaky on his feet, was about to suggest a trip to the hospital when his phone buzzed.
"Boss, we've got trouble! Alan just got back and cleaned out the safe!"
Zachary felt his heart drop.
"Boss! The enforcers are here, saying the Jones family has been plotting against the elite families. They're arresting folks and have sealed off the villa. Where are you? You need to get back, pronto!" A chill ran down Zachary's spine.
"Zachery, is it?"
A cold voice suddenly cut through the air behind him.
Zachary turned around, despair etched on his face, and saw two uniformed men standing behind them, their expressions as blank as a slate.
He noticed the badges on their shoulders-they were enforcers. In Austenberg, enforcers were like the police but held more sway. Those caught by them rarely came out unscathed.
Remembering the butler's warnings, Zachary crumbled to the floor.
It was over. The Jones family was done for.
...
Flora, on the other hand, couldn't care less about the Jones family drama.NôvelDrama.Org (C) content.
After getting home, she took a nap. When she woke up, her family group chat was buzzing with celebration, sharing virtual red envelopes to celebrate a win.
The cash inside wasn't much, but the vibe was electric. Flora joined in, though her luck was lousy, snagging only small amounts.
Kruz: Haha, Flora, your luck's awful! Just pennies, hahaha *burps*, I scored twenty-five bucks!
Flora: ...
Kruz: What's so funny, you big goof? Think your luck's any better? Add a zero, and you're still a fool!
Flora couldn't help but smile. Good times.
Her phone pinged again with group notifications.
[Your favorite dad has sent you an exclusive red envelope]
[Your brother sent you an exclusive red envelope]
[The gamer in the family sent you an exclusive red envelope]
[Mom of three sent you an exclusive red envelope]
[Someone's got a new niece sent you an exclusive red envelope]
The group chat had suddenly turned into a stream of exclusive red envelopes for her. Raul chipped in, as did Henrik, Karter, Adrian, Amanda, and the Kruz duo. Flora opened each one leisurely, finding them all to be hefty sums.
Sixty-six thousand.
Eighty-eight thousand.
Ninety-nine thousand.
...
After a few, she got tired of clicking and typed with mock annoyance: Seriously, stop it, my hand's tired.
In the next room, Karter quietly pulled back from sending another envelope.
"Dad, next time, let's just give her a card," Henrik suggested, chuckling.
That way, she won't have to tire herself out.
Karter gave a nod, thinking it was a solid idea.
Just as Flora exited the "Global Family Admiration Group," a message from Nathan popped up.
