Chapter 1816 It's Really His Brother
Chapter 1816 It's Really His Brother
"Where did you get Lucas? Joseph, you know that Lucas is the one we want."
As soon as Nichole finished speaking, she noticed Joseph glaring at her.
He said indifferently, "If you don't want me to operate on that man anymore, then keep asking about
Lucas. I don't care, but I'm afraid that person can't wait."
Nichole didn't dare to speak at once.
Joseph didn't care what she thought. He went to the dressing room inside alone, changed into a set of
clothes, and came out, then directly burned the original clothes in front of Nichole.
"What are you doing?"
"I have Lucas' scent and fingerprints on me."
Joseph's words made Nichole look at him a few more times.
The more she spent time with Joseph, the more she felt that Joseph was a cautious and careful man. If
she could be pampered by such a man, she would be a happy woman for life.
Nichole was tempted to lean over, but Joseph stopped her in her tracks with a cold look.
She smiled awkwardly, but Joseph didn't have a nice look on his face.
"Get out when you have nothing more to do. Don't come to my place again. Even as an ordinary
person, I don't want to see you again, or I might not do well in surgery."
"You!"
Nichole bit her lower lip and looked like crap.
Joseph was simply too hateful!
But his background, his ability, and his influence in the medical world could not allow her to be reckless.
Nichole snorted coldly and walked away in a huff.
When she had gone, Joseph took out his phone and gave his assistant an order.
"Get someone to disinfect my office once and for all. Also, leave the windows open for twelve hours
before closing them."
The assistant was slightly flabbergasted and couldn't help saying, "Dr. Joseph, twelve hours means
leaving the windows open at night. It's not good for the cold air to get in that way."
"Do as I say."
Joseph rarely spoke in such a cold, hard voice.
The aide was startled and rushed to comply.
Joseph was a little annoyed when he hung up the phone. He tugged at his collar, still not feeling
comfortable, and couldn't help but leave the office. © 2024 Nôv/el/Dram/a.Org.
He had just gotten into his car when he received a call from Nicole.
Joseph looked at the caller ID and frowned slightly, but didn't rush to press the answer button.
He was hesitating, but suddenly pressed the answer button the moment the call was about to hang up.
"Mum ..."
Joseph opened his mouth in a low voice, and his eyes were slightly red.
Nicole didn't detect anything wrong with Joseph's voice and just asked with concern, "You went to
Capital City?"
"Well, I'll be back after I have the surgery."
Joseph didn't say much.
Nicole didn't doubt it and said softly, "I just heard you have problems with your stomach. Joseph, you're
a doctor too. Don't forget to eat when you're out on business. I know doctors don't have much time to
rest once they're on the operating table, but I have to say, a weak stomach at a young age is not a
good sign. When this operation is over, you go home and I'll get your stomach properly conditioned."
Hearing Nicole ramble on, Joseph had tears well up to his eyes.
"Mom, who told you I have problems with my stomach? I’m fine."
"Is it? Would you faint in pain in the middle of the night if you were fine? Joseph, how long are you
going to keep this from me and your father? Your father said that if you don't listen, he'll have Lucas tie
you up after this operation and see if you will feel awkward. It's up to you anyway. All right, I won't keep
you any longer. Take care of yourself."
Nicole hung up the phone after that.
Joseph looked at the phone in his hand, and his throat tightened.
There was only one person who knew that he had fainted because of a stomachache in the middle of
the night, and that was Kylie.
But why would Kylie talk to Mum about this?
Did they get together?
Joseph was a little overwhelmed.
He found Kylie's phone number but didn't dial it for a long time.
It seemed inappropriate for him to call her at this time.
Joseph sighed lightly, put the phone away, and drove straight on.
Lucas woke up to find his hands tied behind his back and that he was in an unfamiliar room.
The layout of the room was very nice and it seemed a bit in keeping with Joseph's style.
Lucas's brow furrowed tightly as he thought about the scene before he passed out.
It was hard for him to imagine that he would one day actually be dazed by Joseph.
In all his years as a soldier, he had kept his guard up at all times and would not drink anything given to
him by anyone when he was out, but he had no idea that he would one day have to defend himself
against his own family.
How could this be?
Lucas was a little depressed.
He also wondered how Yasmeen was doing at the moment and if she was worried about him.
Lucas struggled but noticed something strange about the ropes that were tying him up.
He froze slightly and then flipped his fingers behind him quickly.
Sure enough, the rope came undone in a flash.
Lucas couldn't help but be puzzled.
This technique was something he and Joseph had worked out when they were training together as
kids, and only the two of them knew it. At the time, Joseph had jokingly said that if the two of them ever
turned against each other over something, this would give each other an extra way out and calm down.
Lucas used to just take that as a joke, but now that the truth was in front of him, he suddenly felt a little
sad.
Was this the way back Joseph had left them?
He didn't actually want to tie him up, did he?
Lucas kept making more and more excuses for Joseph, but nothing made sense.
Suddenly, he heard footsteps outside.
Lucas quickly put the rope back in place and he closed his eyes and pretended to be asleep.
It didn't take long for two men to enter the room.
One of them examined Lucas and whispered, "I told you he wouldn't wake up. Master Joseph had
dosed him with enough drugs to knock out an elephant. Come on, let's go and watch the news. Master
Joseph didn't want anything to happen to Master Lucas, right?"
The other man looked at Lucas, who was sleeping, and was a bit uneasy, so he reached out and poked
his hand under Lucas' nose.
Lucas hurriedly adjusted his breathing and pretended to be asleep.
The other man felt his breathing rate and breathed a sigh of relief.
"Caution is right. Master Joseph told us to keep an eye on him, so we can't let Master Lucas escape.
It's not like you don't know what Master Lucas can do. If Master Joseph gets angry, you and I will both
be in trouble."
The two men checked again before they turned to leave.
When the room was completely silent, Lucas opened his eyes.
It really was Joseph!
All of them had thought all these years that Joseph was keen on medical research and a nerd, but they
had never imagined that he actually had his own power and had these people fear him so much.
So how much more was there to his brother that he didn't know, and how many other identities did he
have that he didn't know about?
Lucas was a little confused and even felt as if he had never known Joseph before.
