Don’t Fall for the Billionaire Lover

Chapter 924

News of Ruby's hospitalization hadn't yet reached Chloe in Westbridge.

"Is she okay?"

"She's out of danger for now."

Tara let out a sigh of relief. "That's good to hear. But poor Chloe, inheriting this condition is just unfair."

After spending some time with the Moncada family, Chloe and Connor headed back to Greenwood Manor.

When Chloe emerged from her shower, she noticed Connor on the balcony, smoking again. He seemed burdened with worries lately.

She walked over to him. "What's been on your mind? Why are you smoking so much?"

Seeing her, Connor quickly stubbed out his cigarette. "Is something bothering you?"

He hurried to reassure her, "I won't smoke anymore."

Chloe chuckled, "Smoking's not great for your health, and the baby isn't a fan of the smell either."

Mentioning the baby brought a smile to her face. She was five months along now and could feel the little one moving around each day. It was a magical feeling, almost like she could sense the baby growing and changing bit by bit.noveldrama

Connor's gaze softened as he looked at Chloe's belly. He walked over and gently placed his hand on it, his eyes clouded with a mix of emotions and pain.

"When's the next prenatal check-up?" he asked.

"Next Tuesday."

"I'll come with you."

Chloe's check-ups were always at a private clinic with top-notch service. Everything had gone smoothly so far, so she hadn't insisted on Connor going with her, especially since he was busy managing a vast business empire that was just recovering from scandals and crises?

Now that things were settling down, Chloe agreed, "Alright."

Before long, they were back in Eldridge City.

On Tuesday, Connor accompanied Chloe to her prenatal check-up. She found it odd that there were so many tests scheduled, including an MRI of her brain. Most of the reports came out quickly.

The doctor, holding the 4D ultrasound, beamed, "The baby is very healthy, active, and quite adorable."

Chloe looked at the report, smiling at the baby's pictures. "Connor, look at his little nose, mouth, arms, and legs. So cute."

She handed the report to Connor, who studied it for a moment but didn't say

anything. His expression turned more serious rather than happy.

Chloe had a feeling something was off with Connor lately.

Connor quietly tucked the report away. "I have an urgent matter at work. Colton's car is downstairs He'll take you wherever you need to go. Are you heading to the office or home?"

Feeling a bit disappointed, Chloe said, "I'll go to the office. I have some things to wrap up this afternoon."

"Alright, I'll pick you up tonight."

Once Chloe left, Connor didn't leave the hospital. Instead, he went to the neurology department with Chloe's MRI results.

He found Dr. Goodman, Ruby's attending physician. Dr. Goodman looked

surprised when he saw the report. "Whose report is this?"

Connor didn't hold back, "It's my wife's."

Dr. Goodman's expression immediately turned serious. "Ms. Chloe? How could

she have the same cerebral vascular condition as Ms. Ruby?"
