Don’t Fall for the Billionaire Lover

Chapter 1084

Killian let out a heavy sigh. "It's just a pity my son isn't cut out for this. After all this time, he still can't take down the Gilbert family."

Grant stared at the floor, knuckles white from how tightly he clenched his hands.

No one could see his face, but everyone knew the truth-Grant was just another piece in Killian's game.

By any normal standard, Grant was already exceptional-the kind of person who stood out in any crowd. But expecting him to take on three powerful families all by himself? That was a different league entirely.

As Chloe listened to the scattered conversation, everything finally started to make sense the grudges, the schemes, the tangled history.

"So, you started plotting your revenge when you were just five. Back then, you thought Jeffery killed your whole family, so your first target was the Sartori family. When you were ten, you joined their household, pretending to be a performer. Jeffery had three daughters, and they never got along let me guess, that was your doing too. You made the eldest, Claire, your focus, always protecting her, but really you were weaving a trap-a love story that lasted more than a decade. Even when you two eloped and were supposedly killed by bandits, it was all part of your plan to destroy the Sartori family's brightest hope."

"If I'm right, your apprentice, Suzanne, was in on it too. Maybe she's been your pawn from the start, even when she joined the Gilbert family. Her purpose there was to help you ruin their head of house. She dragged Desmond down, made him lose his ambition. Then there was Pax, but he was too young and only became head after Suzanne died. So destroying the Gilberts became Grant's job. He's been relentless these past two years. If the Gilbert and Sartori families hadn't joined forces, they'd have been finished by now."

As Chloe spoke, realization swept through the room.

Kent finally spoke. "So, who did you plant in our family-the Nagels?"noveldrama

Killian stayed silent. Chloe answered for him. "Uncle Hugh, haven't you noticed how Claire used you all these years? Didn't you give her the Nagel family's heirloom-the peace medallion that's been passed down for generations? If I'm right, that medallion is with Killian now. Claire was both a victim and a pawn. Think about it-wasn't it your constant support for her during her feud with Connor that drained the Nagel family's resources, weakened us, and set us up for Grant's final blow?"

Kent shook with anger.

It finally hit him: all those years backing Claire against Connor had bled the family dry. Now he saw the Sartori family's infighting hadn't been-natural-it was orchestrated from the shadows.

That poor mother and son-they'd both been used as pawns. They were the spark that started the downfall of all four families.

How could anyone be so cruel-and so calculating?

Killian's laughter suddenly filled the air.

"The little Shaw girl-always so sharp."

Chloe pressed on, not missing a beat. "But the one thing you couldn't control was the Shaw family. Over twenty years ago, my parents move abroad and took all oure assets with them-far out of your reach. But you still tried to play your last card. If I'm right, Taylor was the piece you meant to use against us."
