M&M FOODS, NEW YORK.
Asher held onto his head as he stared blankly at the computer screen. Nothing seems to make sense. The numbers seem to be depreciating. He needs more money pumped into the company as soon as possible if they intend to have any heads way. To make matters worse, Andrea isn’t exactly turning up as expected. His phone rang, showing his father as the caller. Asher picked up the call with less enthusiasm. “Yes, Dad.” Darren cursed from the other end. “What is this I am looking at, Asher? Why is our market value this low? What the hell are you doing?” “Dad, can you not yell? I am going through a lot at the moment. I don’t believe it’s my fault you went recklessly with your money; stop trying to make me the bad egg. As you asked, DDFoods are topping the sales chart because they found better ingredients for our best-seller, and the consumers are going crazy over it.” “Are you stupid? Why would you respond in such a dumb manner, and you run a company as huge as that? Do you even know that X&J has been testing the markets?” Asher scoffed. “What would a convenience retailer know about packaged foods?” “I can’t believe I fathered you. X&J is richer than M&M will ever be. He would buy us out if he decides to.” “Please, Dad. You are just being paranoid for nothing. All I need to do is get this money from Andrea, and then we are back in business.” “You need more than just money. The report has it that the new researcher you hired is nothing to write home about. If I knew you would handle both women like that, I would have found another way out.” “What was I supposed to do when one had more money to get me what I needed?” “Does she have the brain the other possesses? I hope you were clear in your memo that any other food company in New York cannot employ her.” “Yes, Dad.” He answered tiredly. “I guess that was one thing the other one got right. Nina won’t hesitate to sell out the same secret ingredients she gave us to get back at us. When do you plan to get the money from Andrea?” “I thought you said money wasn’t important.” Asher taunted. Darren sucked his teeth. “Keep your bloody mouth shut and answer my question.” He scratched his head. “I don’t know dad. She keeps changing the topic whenever I try to discuss it.” “That sneaky bitch. You better make sure she gives up every penny. Even if it requires you to get married to her. I do not give a fuck!” “Of course, you don’t. Have a good day, Dad.” Asher hissed, ending the call. He mumbled some incoherent words under his breath as he stared blankly at the wall. He regrets sending Nina off without thinking it through. It’s over a month since she left the company, and nothing has been exemplary. The new researcher hired doesn’t appear to be innovative. It seems like none of them can match Nina’s vision. The door opened abruptly, and Andrea stormed in. “Why have I been calling, and you aren’t picking up?” She questioned with a frown. “Baby, I have been busy.” “Busy doing what? Am I not more important than anything else in your life right now? That stupid woman you were once married to had me beaten up for no reason at all. Is it my fault you fell in love with me and left her? It is all your fault! If you had gotten rid of her the year we got together, all of this wouldn’t be happening!” She kept talking nonstop. Asher felt his head spinning. Suppose there is one thing that he regrets in his relationship with Andrea. She cannot read the room or be concerned about other people. It always has to be about her-something Nina never did. Nina would always think twice before delving into anything. She has never given him any trouble since they got together. He might have to find his woman back after getting the money from Andrea. Inhaling deeply, he stood up to pull Andrea into an embrace while using his thumb to draw circles on her oily cheek. “Why are you always so hot? It would be best if you didn’t stress yourself about Nina. She is part of our past now. What we need is to focus on the future.” She slapped his hand off, not feeling satisfied with his response. “Have you gone deaf? I just told you that Nina harassed me.” “How did you even find her?” “Does that matter? I want that bitch arrested and tortured. She doesn’t deserve to be moving around freely.” Asher felt his chest tighten. A scary shadow on her face made him feel scared a bit. “Do we have to? She is out of our lives now.” “No, she is not. For someone who thinks we took everything from her. Don’t you realize she would be jealous of us?” “She has no power to do anything to us.” Andrea hissed loudly. “Are you always this slow, or did I fail to notice on time? Why are you refusing to hear me out? Nina is trouble. She shouldn’t exist. I want her arrested for assault.” “Are you truly wounded?” “Will the police believe me a heiress or a pauper like her?” He swallowed with difficulty. “Yeah, I guess not.” “I will send you the address. Get that bitch arrested.” “Yes, baby. I will. Anyway, have you spoken to your dad about us? When am I going to meet him?” He asked, caressing her arm. Andrea suddenly felt restless. She tried to move away from him, but he firmly held her. “I…he is out of town for business. We can always discuss this with him when he returns. I don’t want to bombard him with any unlikely discussion on the phone. He doesn’t like it.” He nibbed at her neck. “I want us to meet on time. I can’t wait to have you as my wife.” That made her excited. “Really? We are getting married soon?” “Definitely. I want to meet your parents, especially your dad. I need him to approve of me.” She giggled, tugging at his tie. “He definitely would.” “I can’t wait.” He grinned, kissing her before pulling her into a hug. With his eyes glued to the ground. Asher hoped the meeting would be soon. He isn’t much of an actor.
