Dear Ex-wife Marry Me

Chapter 2114

Dave initially looked down on the idea of a rich kid like Beck sticking around to rough it out. He figured Beck would last five days tops. But Beck stuck it out for a whole month. An entire month of eating and drinking the same as them, and he even learned to cook. Sure, his rice was still a bit undercooked, but he'd come a

Stella pulled Dave aside, her voice tinged with concern. "Dave, are we really going to let him stay here indefinitely?"

It had been a month, and in that time, Beck had shed his expensive suits and watches, dressing humbly now.

Dave knew Stella was wavering. He rubbed his temples, deep in thought. "Let's give it another week, okay? Stella, I'm just not comfortable leaving you alone."

Stella's eyes glistened with emotion. She knew it was a gamble, but she was willing to take the chance. "Okay."

Five days later, Stella planned to tell Beck she was ready to go back with him to North America. But when she looked for him, he was nowhere to be found.

Dave suddenly remembered Beck mentioning he was going with others to forage for wild greens. It was the season for those greens, and the locals loved collecting them. They were sweet when sautéed, and Stella was fond of them too, which is why Beck tagged along.

"Dave, isn't that area kind of dangerous lately? I heard there were armed robbers around," Stella said, her voice tinged with worry.

Dave slapped his forehead, realizing he had forgotten about that. "You're right. I completely spaced on that."

Stella was ready to rush out, but Dave held her back. "You can't go there alone. I'll check it out. You stay here."

But Stella couldn't be swayed. She insisted on going, forcing Dave to relent with a sigh.

After walking for half an hour, they reached the area where people were foraging. Clothes were scattered on the ground, but there was no sign of the foragers. Stella's heart raced, and she called out, "Beck!"

No response.

She quickened her pace, shouting, "Beck! Where are you?"

"Beck!"

Finally, they stumbled upon a few people, all injured to varying degrees. Some even had bloodied shoulders.

"What happened here?" Stella demanded.

"There was an armed robbery. They took our greens and even our clothes," one of the injured replied.

The locals here were mostly poor, with little to their names. The robbers took whatever they could, even the food they desperately needed.

Stella's heart was in her throat. Would Beck have escaped? Was he hurt?

They pressed on another mile, spotting more people. Stella desperately described Beck to anyone who would listen.

"Have you seen a handsome guy, looks like he's from the East?"

Nobody had seen him, until they asked a child who pointed in a direction. "He's over there. He's really brave."

Stella dashed off without a second thought, running hundreds of meters until she found Beck sitting on the ground, catching his breath. Beside him was a pile of wild greens, and in his hand was a gun, presumably taken from the robbers.

"Stella, what are you doing here? It's dangerous," Beck said, standing as soon as he saw her.

Stella's eyes filled with tears. She rushed forward, burying her face in his chest. "Beck, let's go back to North America. We need to leave."

North America was his territory. At least there, she wouldn't have to constantly worry about his safety.

Beck felt his heart melt. He knew

what she was feeling. He gently

patted her back. "I'm okay. Don't

worry got the gun from them, and they ran off. Look, I got all our greens back."

Tears welled in Stella's eyes again. He was one of the most important people in North America, yet here he was, risking his life over some wild greens. But she also felt deeply moved.

Beck took her hand, holding the greens in the other. "Let's head back."

"Beck, I'm serious. Let's go back to North America tomorrow," Stella insisted.

Beck stopped in his tracks, looking at her intently. There was no hint of a joke on her face.

He brushed a stray tear from her cheek. "Are you sure? Once we're back, you have to stay in my villa hidden away. I can only take you out in secret. I staged that fake death scene to throw the Moore family off your trail, but if they find out you're in North America, they won't let it go."

Stella leaned into him, feeling his warmth. "Then I'll stay in your villa. Just keep

me safe."
