Deadly Storm

Chapter thirteen

Sarah's POV

When I got to school the following week, everyone is talking about the survivors that went down at the hunt. Luckily, my friends are those survivors.

They told me the next day all about on video call how they were close to getting bit. I did almost have a heart attack 'cause of that sentence.

I had adrenaline racing through me when they told me everything, and I wasn't the one that went. If I did, I'd probably be the ones that got caught. I'm not in the mood to getting bitten then sent off to somewhere I have no idea who the vamps are.

Unlocking my locker, I get my things for the first few classes, then I make my way down to my first class of the day.

Social.

I get the four vamps with me, Keir Vance, Blade Ramose, Frey Lutter, and Talon Flon. Not only am I upset that Keir went after my friends, but I have to deal with him and his vamp goons this morning, and I'm not in the mood. Without getting their attention, I sit near the front in the middle since my window seats have been taken.

Getting my things all sorted out, I felt cold skeleton like fingers on my upper arms. I shudder at the feeling. Of course the teacher isn't here yet.

"Hello, Harper."

I could hear the venom in his voice when he said my last name.

"Ramose."

I tried to mimic but failed.

He chuckled as his grip grew tighter. Where's the teacher when you need him?!

"So, I noticed you weren't at the hunt while the rest your mortal friends were. Where were you?"

"None of your business," I snapped.

I could feel him grinning. "And why isn't it?"

"Because you don't need to know my every move."

"Of course."

His grip loosened a bit. Before I knew it he's gone when Mr. Brotherton stepped foot in the class. I could still feel his touch longer in my body.

"Morning everyone, take out your notes and get ready to write more."

We all moan.

-

After the first few blocks, finally lunch came. I dread led through the morning and not because it's school. But because I could still feel his touch on me. Even when he touched me a few weeks ago, it wasn't as tense as this. His feeling didn't stick for long.

I shivered with his touch still there. Shaking off the feeling I sat at our usual table waiting for the others.

Once the others came, I got right into my news about my mom.

"So she found an apartment in New York City. She's moving in a couple weeks from now and wants me to come visit her at Christmas and the weekend after she moves. My mom wants me to meet her new roommate."

"That's nice."

"Aww."

"How great!"

They all said this at once. It's very sweet of my mom to make sure that I'm visiting her and not abandoning her. I'm eating my sandwich when I felt some force on my left side pushing me away. When I glance over to give this person a piece of my mind, I realized I have no chance. Keir slipped between Lennix and Kathrine, Frey made a spot on my right, and Talon just stood eyeing us like we're food or something.

Oh wait, we are food.

Three guesses for who's beside me.

"What the hell do you want?" Kathrine snapped.

"We are here to join you for lunch," Ramose said like it's normal.

"Why?" I ask glancing carefully at each vamp.

"It's none of your business," Ramose said, mocking me from earlier.

"And why isn't it?"

Two can play at that game.

Ramose faced me grinning like an idiot crossing his arms on the table. "Because you don't need to know everything now do you?"

I rolled my eyes taking a bite of my sandwich. In the corner of my eyes, I can see each vamp take a sip of their blood. I guess that's a way to keep their craving go insane when near us humans.

It's a great way from going snapping even if they have those accessories on them. Whoever invented those are amazing. It keeps a good safety from the rest of us mortals. Now I don't know if it's just our town who has them or every vampire in the world, but it's a genius idea.

Speaking of, a beep when off and both Ramose and Vance flinched at the pain, I'm assuming pain.

"Why'd you flinch?" Lauren asks.

"We have these accessories in case you don't know. Whenever a vamp craves human blood, they get a shock from that accessory. It helps keep us from craving blood and going insane," Keir explain.

Lauren mouthed 'oh' and went back to eating.

"Do you two have been craving human blood?" Lennix asked.

"No, we did it just for show," Ramose sarcastically said.

"I'm taking that as a yes," he mumbled.

"So answer my question, why are you here?"

"I did, it's none of your business."This content © Nôv/elDr(a)m/a.Org.

Ramose took a sip of his blood in a bottle. It's gross. The bell rang and I got up and left without waiting for my friends. I just can't stand the vamps.

-

In the end of the day, I walked home. I told Sabe that I'll walk to have some time to think. Of course doing that, I would get a call and have to explain later.

Which I'll gladly do but just for him.

As I walked down the sidewalk, I plugged in my earphones and blasted music. The fall sun shine down, just the warmth. A little chill blew past me. I love Fall, it's not too hot or too cold. In between.

I should do this more often, walk home alone to get through my thoughts. Clear them.

Clear everything.

Walking into my home, I found loads of folded boxes. And a couple with stuff in, labeled.

"I'm home!" I shouted as I took out the earphones. My mother came from upstairs.

"Hey Sarah, how's school?"

"Good."

"Good. Hey can you pass me a couple boxes, thanks."

I grabbed the first two boxes that I touch is what I pick up to give to my mom.

I head up to my room to finish my homework when my phone rings. "This is it," I mumbled.

"Hello, Sabe."

"Hey, Sarah. So tell me . . . Why did you want to walk home instead of getting a lift?"

"A lot of things on my mind."

"So the brotherly friend I am, what's on your mind?"

I sigh defeated that I'll have to tell him or he'll force it out of me. "That's vamps. You nearly got bitten by them on Friday. Then he touched my arms and even though he did before, this feeling . . . This feeling kept with me through out the day. The cold, hard touch stayed with me all day."

"Is that what's bothering you?"

"Yeah. Just something about how he's acting seems off."

"Sarah, he's a vampire. What would you expect?"

"I know, but . . . Did you find it odd for them o sit with us at lunch today? I mean, they never do that. They stick with their own kind."

"You are correct there."

"Also, when we did the Chase and I got stolen, this guy said there'd be war. Keir asked me about it the next day and he wanted to know what he wanted."

"Did you tell him? And who was the guy?"

"I did, and I can't remember who it was. I think it started a 'V'."

"Oh."

"Yeah, it hasn't been mentioned since."

"Well, we'll ask him about it tomorrow."

"Okay,"

"Is that all?"

"Yeah."

"Thanks for telling me. If anything bothers you, I'll be there. Just stay calm and we'll sort something out, okay?"

"Okay."

We hung up after saying our goodbyes.
