Chapter 116
With every single step that he took, his heart raced ten times faster and he was gasping for breath like someone that just finished a race. *Signs*
After much inquiry, Paxton discovered that Sydney was now working as a waitress in one of the restaurants. “What should I do now,” he said to him in his car, hitting his hands on the story.
“Go to her house or her workplace,” he thought again. But then, a thought crossed his mind that answered all his questions.
“Would you want a public embarrassment?” A voice rang in his head. Paxton thought about his for some time and decided that it would be preferable to go to her house.
He could feel his heart beating hard against his chest as though it was going to burst through as he drove his car to her house.
When he got there, the door was bolted just as he had expected. “I will just have to wait for her here,” he said to himself as another long line of laughter escaped from his mouth.
Meanwhile, Sydney was just returning from work with her heart torn apart as usual. She could not take her mind off Paxton as his images kept flicking in her mind.
“Forget about him Sydney, you can never be with him and he hates you now,” she thought as tears filled her eyes.
She drew closer to her house and saw him standing by the door. And she could feel her heart beating harder against her chest.
“I missed him so much that I am even hallucinating about him,” Sydney thought in her head as fresh tears poured down From her eyes.
But when Paxton began to draw closer to her and she discovered that she wasn’t hallucinating. That was Paxton standing right before her. Her heart skipped a lot of beats.
“Is that you my Paxton,” she whispered to herself Whipping off the tears from her eyes.
Sydney was overjoyed and she could not contain it. But her joy wasn’t full. She thought about him hating her and coming back for his revenge after lying to him.
“He certainly not here for good,” she announced to herself already shivering with fear. In as much as she loved him, she also loved her life and didn’t want to die.
“What should I do now?” She whispered to be confused. “I will have to run for it before he gets me,” she said to herself and broke into a sudden run.
Her heart formed a pattern with her racing heart. She kept on running as fast as her legs could carry her.
Sydney got tired of running after a while and she placed her hands on her knees trying hard to catch her breath. “Thank God I lost him,” she said to herself panting hard to get a breath but she had thought wrong.
She looked behind her and noticed that he was coming up to her. But she couldn’t break into a run again. Her legs were too weak now to move even another step.
“I will have to confront him, I don’t care what he does to me now,” she thought in her head.
When he got to her, she shot a deadly frown at him making him fall backward. “What do you want from me, why don’t you just leave my life alone the way it’s bad already,” she yelled at him as tears formed in the corner of her eyes once again.
“Please just listen to me, I am very sorry for everything I did back then,” he apologized.
Sydney stared at him but was shocked and surprised. “What the heck is happening here?” She yelled in her head.
“This just had to be a joke, he was playing tricks with me and I am not going to fall for it this time,” she said to herself.
She watched him for some time unable to say even a single word to him as she kept staring at him with her lips far apart.
Then, he did something that almost made her heart leap out from her chest. He knelt before her and held her dress.
“I’m sorry I didn’t trust you my Sydney. I know you have the right to hate me and chase me away just like I did to you but please give me a chance, that’s all I ask for,” He noted while she continued to stare at him with her tear-filled eyes.
But even with the sweet words of his, Sydney was still confused. She tried to match the Paxton that she knew and the one that was kneeling right before her. They seemed not to be the same.
“This certainly can’t be him, maybe it’s that full of a Jaxton in disguise,” she whispered to herself.
His last words rang in her head again and she shivered. It had to be him, the man standing before her was just too in love with him to be Paxton.
But deep down, she knew that it was him. She was confused and didn’t even know what to do. “Why did you come back for me?” Sydney inquired.
“Because I love you,” he returned.
“But you are the same person that noted the last time that you hated me with so much and you regret ever having anything to do with me,” she tried to say but fresh tears poured down from her eyes before she could even complete the statement.
“I said all those mean words because I misunderstood you and didn’t get the full truth about your past life,” he returned.
But she could not say anything, she kept staring at him right in his eyes. Paxton waited for her to say the next word but she was just way too shocked to say another word.Text © owned by NôvelDrama.Org.
