Chapter 56
A hangover
Elina woke up with a bad headache she’s having such a bad hangover. She groaned, lifting her head from the bed.
Damn!
She felt like shit.
Argh! Standing up from the bed, she sat on her floor with her back leaning on the bed.
She saw a note posted on a cup. With the words written.
For your hangover.
Stretching a little, she pulled the note off the cup and stare at it. Wondering who write it.
Nevertheless, she took the cup and drank from it.
She felt a little refreshed though. Shutting her eyes. And reopened, gawp at the room she was, it was her room!
Her small house, how did she get back in here, she remembered going into the bar last night, but she didn’t remember anything else after drinking the vodka.
She ruffled her hair.
Jeez!
How can she be so stupid!
What if a stranger took her home and.. and.. she gulped, checking herself, she wasn’t in the dress she wore last night, she was in a different ware. Her nightie.
She runs her hands over her body. Checking if she felt anything.
What could have happened?
She chugged down the entire tea, whoever brought her in was still in here in her small, dirty apartment.
Argh!
She mentally screamed!
“What’s wrong with you?.”
Her head was still heavy for her to lift, so she did it slowly, looking at the intruder with an eye, her head hurts.
She slumped beside her.
“Oh, my Gawd! It’s you right, tell me it’s you not a guy.”
“It’s me silly..” Barbara smiled. Nudging her by the shoulders.
Elina maintain her facial expression, though she had been a little relieved it wasn’t a stranger who took her home. Seeing the looks she had on, she had to speak up for last night, maybe she hadn’t remembered yet. Before she could speak, Elina spoke up.
“I didn’t do anything silly last night did?”
“You were sweet.” She chuckled.
“Oh!” She mouthed. And looked away. Seeing Barbra here means, they must have settled things among themselves last night. Though she couldn’t remember.
“Last night, we said a lot to each other. And among all, you said you forgave him and I could go ahead and have Ray.”
“I said that, well..” she paused and exhaled.
“I don’t care about him.”
“He’s still your best friend.”
“He was, my best friend not anymore since he became part of the people that wanted Kenzo dead. He shouldn’t do that.”This is property © NôvelDrama.Org.
“He cares for you, wanted you home.”
“He’s a psycho.”
“He wasn’t that way before was he? It was the pain of losing you and couldn’t have you back. Those feelings hurt you know.”
She remembered now, how she cried on her shoulders. She huffed at the memories.
Barbra exhaled too.
They shared a small laugh.
“I’m sorry.”
“It won’t change anything, now I’m kinda grateful it happened. Else I wouldn’t have been here now. It was part of what changed me. To deviate from what you guys thought I was.”
“If it hadn’t happened, Kenzo wouldn’t have let you off either.”
“I agree with you on that, but it made it a lot easier. Because I wasn’t forced to do anything. I did everything I did. Willingly.”
“You’ve changed. A lot.”
“I’ve missed this..”
“Me too. I missed it a lot.” They chuckled.
“I can be able to talk to someone who understands me, not just someone but a best friend of mine.”
Barbra smiles.
“I wanted to apologize sooner but didn’t know how I was gonna do it. You could have asked Aziel or sambas to deal with me if I had come anyway near you.”
“At then I was pissed off.”
“so what are your plans?”
She looked around.
“Back to my old life.”
“I don’t think you could do that anymore.”
“What do you mean?”
“I was going through stuff online and I saw this.” She brought out the phone and gave it to her.
Elina stares at it. It was a picture of her, the night she went to meet Chief Brennon.
She was standing and looking so fucking beautiful. She had been taken unaware.
The caption…
Midnight beauty…
Wow! She clasped her hands over her mouth.
She had a lot of views on it.
“Who could have done this?”
“Who else would, the consigliere Kenzo.”
Elina chuckled.
“So your life has changed, and it’s going to be bigger and bigger, as far as you’re alive. He did this, so you’ll be exposed. And if anything happens to you, everyone would know.”
“Kenzo Brennon. The stupid asshole!”
“He isn’t stupid, he did this to keep you safe. I maybe might have misjudged him. Maybe I was wrong somewhere in my judgment and you were right. You shouldn’t give up yet.”
“I’ve already. I don’t wanna do this again. It might sound so hilarious and everyone would laugh at it. But it hurts like shit!
It hurts so bad.”
Her eyes got teary and the tears didn’t hesitate to stream down her face.
“I thought I was never gonna feel this way ever again. But I was wrong because it only got worse.” She sniffed. Barbra pulled her into a hug.
“I don’t wanna talk about him anymore. I’m just gonna live my life, the best way I can. Go back to working at carols. Forget that I once had a life with him.”
“What if they come for you?”
“I can protect myself. I’ve got a gun. And I can fight:”
She pulled away from Barbra and stood up Her feet.
“He could get married for all I care, win or lose the election, I don’t fucking care anymore.”
“That’s what you’re saying huh?”
She stood up as.
“Now I’m gonna start by cleaning up the house. Are you gonna join me or not?”
“Am in.”
Elina smiled. And walked towards the bathroom.
“I’ll wash up a little.”
Barbra could see the pains in her eyes. She wasn’t fine at all. Elina, all she ever had was heartbreaks. From everyone she truly gives her heart into.
That was her weak spot, her heart.
And for the third time got broken. And even worse.
Because she had no idea what’s to come. She has changed, so much that she wished, she was never the Elina she knew.
She saw the gun on her bedside table. And sighed.
This was what she was talking about.
She drinks too. And brave wildly.
And Ever was stuck in the hospital for life and death. Because of her, what she did to her.
Elina Brooke, she had become scared of you now. Because she could do anything to her or anyone without a blink of an eye.
