Capture Her Heart After Marriage

Chapter 52 I Would Get Him Back

Chapter 52 I Would Get Him Back

Alexia's knees went weak, and she almost collapsed to the floor. “What? Divorce?"

As expected, Nathaniel was right.

"Yes, you're not good enough for Chaim!" Evelyn lifted her chin slightly and looked at her proudly. Alexia pulled a chair over and sat down, lest she give in to the shocking words she would hear later.

"Ms. Chi, what do you mean by not being worthy?" Alexia pursed her lips tightly.

"I mean literally what I said. You understand what being worthy means, right?" Evelyn asked, leaning back indifferently.

Alexia's hands gripped the arms of her chair tighter, a hint of anger faintly stained her face. "I know what it means, but who are you to say I'm not good enough for Chaim?"

"Are you worthy of him?" Evelyn asked rhetorically, one eye repeatedly looking her up and down.

Alexia felt cornered from being sized up and having nowhere to hide so, she gathered her jacket and replied with some weakness. “It's not up to you to say whether or not you are worthy."

"Ms. Chi, it's not that I want to belittle you." Evelyn crossed her arms, her face wrinkling. “It's really that you are such that I can't see a single sparkle in you, and from the time I learned you were married to Chaim, I even asked my father to check you out, and the results made me feel very disappointed."

"You're investigating me?" Alexia's voice raised an octave, sadness settling in her heart.

"Shh! Keep your voice down!"

Evelyn raised a finger at her mouth. "I'm not investigating you. I just want to get to know you. I wanted to know what kind of character you were who could marry Chaim. However, I didn't expect you to turn

out to be so bad, so I'm just curious to know what exactly did to get married into the Lancaster family."

"I refuse to answer!" Alexia flung out four words coldly.

Evelyn narrowed her eyes in annoyance. "If you won’t tell me, then I'll discover it myself. First of all, you don't have overwhelming family looks, nor do you have the ability and talent to hold your own, and you have three family members who do nothing but ask you for money. Ms. White, what qualifications do you have to stand beside Chaim like this?"

"So you're qualified?" Alexia asked angrily.

"Yes! I am qualified, and very qualified at that!" Evelyn smiled arrogantly. "I have the family and the looks, the ability and the talent, and I’m even the only heir of the Chi family. So I am an excellent match for him and can help him anytime, while you can't do anything and will only drag him down."

Hearing those words, Alexia felt like someone had fiercely stabbed her heart with a sword, and she couldn’t catch her breath from the pain.

At Chaim's welcome party, Lynn also discussed this kind of topic with her. Back then, Alexia knew she wasn’t good enough for Chaim. But it had been only a short time since such words were dragged out again by Evelyn, and the embarrassment in her heart couldn’t be imagined.

"So, Ms. Chi, just divorce Chaim, it's better for you and Chaim. After all, you and Chaim are destined to be people of two worlds, and Chaim’s world has never been suitable for you.”

Evelyn saw Alexia's pale face and knew that what she said had struck her, for this reason, she even softened her tone and looked like a person who actually cared.

Evelyn thought Alexia would, therefore, agree, but unexpectedly, she suddenly shouted. “Impossible!"

"What?" Evelyn asked, stunned.

Alexia bit her lower lip determination. "I will not divorce him. I know I’m not worthy of Chaim, but so what? I will learn and will make sure I’m a good wife, so I am not going to divorce him."

"Alexia, are you serious?" Evelyn was furious.

After all, she had said, she had not expected the woman to be so obstinate and uncertain.

"Of course I'm serious." Alexia took a deep breath. "To put it simply, the fact that I gained Grandpa's fancy to marry Chaim means I'm not as bad and useless as you say. I believe I'll be good enough for him one day."

"What's the use of you believing that? Chaim doesn't love you, he loves me! So what are you doing pestering him like that? Do you want to make a fool of yourself?" Evelyn's eyes turned red with anger.

Alexia pretended not to hear her and kept her mouth shut without uttering a word.

Because it was already clear to Alexia that the more she continued to say, the more Evelyn would berate her.

Anyway, she was Chaim's wife, and it was only natural for her to pester him, which had nothing to do with being a deadbeat.

When Evelyn saw Alexia pretending to be deaf and dumb, her whole heart exploded with anger, her hand on the armrest of the wheelchair gripping it as if she wanted to crush it. "Alexia, I'm asking you one last time, are you going to divorce him or not?"

"No way!"

"Good, then don't blame me." Evelyn smiled sardonically. C0pyright © 2024 Nôv)(elDrama.Org.

Alexia's heart thudded. "What are you going to do?"

Evelyn's lips smiled a cold smile. "I'm going to try to get you guys to divorce by any means possible, of course. Chaim is mine, even if we've been separated for three years. He only has me in his heart, so I'll snatch Chaim back."

"You want to be a mistress?" Alexia looked at her in amazement.

"A mistress?" A layer of hostility plated Evelyn's eyes. "Alexia, of the three of us, you're the third wheel, you're the one who's standing between me and Chaim!"

"I’m not standing between you two! You had already broken up when I met Chaim," Alexia said exasperatedly.

"Breaking up doesn't mean it's over. He’s always mine, and it's not another woman's turn to get her hands on him. So, Alexia, if you're smart, be a good girl and leave Chaim's side, or I'll make sure you regret it later."

"Aren't you afraid I'll tell Chaim about this?"

Evelyn snorted disdainfully. “Go ahead, see if he believes you or me."

Alexia was silent. When Evelyn saw she had struck a chord, she was so pleased with herself she had little reason to stay any longer and was ready to leave.

As soon as the door opened, Evelyn's posture returned to the gentle elegance she had come with. "Nathaniel, we're done talking, come in."

Nathaniel walked in and first looked toward Alexia, seeing her with her head bowed and her breathing coming in uneven bursts. He couldn't help but frown. “What did you talk about?"

Evelyn's wide eyes darted around. "I won't tell you. I must be off."

Evelyn took control of the wheelchair and set off, completely unconcerned about whether Alexia would tell Nathaniel about their conversation.

Nathaniel walked up to Alexia. "Sister, did Evelyn say something to make you leave Chaim?"

Alexia looked up at him in surprise.

Nathaniel stuck his hands in the pockets of his white coat. "Looks like I got it right."

Alexia put her head back down. "Dr. Hardy, do you think I should leave Chaim?"

"What makes you think that you should leave him?" Nathaniel frowned.

Alexia covered her face with her hands. "It's just that I think Evelyn was right about some things. I can't compare to her in anything, and I might not be good enough for Chaim."

"Sister, don’t listen to a thing Evelyn said. You are different from her. You are kinder than her, more humble than her. I think Master Lancaster saw this in you and let you marry Chaim," Nathaniel said comfortingly.

"Really?" Alexia looked at him in confusion.

Her eyes wide, like a small animal that couldn't find its way, looked at Nathaniel and his heart jumped as his eyes behind his glasses seemed to unfocus. "Really!"

"Although I know you are only comforting me, thank you anyway." Alexia smiled and was in a better mood.

"You can trust me." Nathaniel reached out his hand and subconsciously rubbed her soft hair.

"You..." Alexia looked at him in shock.

Only then did Nathaniel react to what he’d done, but before he could let go of his hand, Chaim's voice called out from behind them, cold and tinged with suppressed anger. “What are you doing?"
