Bride To Be Not Me (Janice and Simon)

Chapter 299

Barbara sighed. "The Swanwick family aren't people you want to mess with lightly. Even though we're not afraid of a confrontation, I'm worried they might cause trouble for Edward later."

Myra, known for her fiery temper, snapped, "Is Terry dead or something?"

Terry raised an eyebrow.

Catching his wife's sharp gaze, he quickly chimed in, "Robert, you're overthinking this. The Swanwicks don't have deep roots. Sure, Kellan has a wide network of connections, but if it comes down to that, we're not lacking either."

Terry's father may have retired years ago, but no one dared cross Terry. As long as he was around, Edward's Prosper Stitch Group was in safe hands. After all, he had always treated Edward like a son and had showered him with care since childhood.

"Let's not stir up trouble," Barbara said. "Terry's about to get promoted soon. We can't afford any scandals that might ruin his career."

Robert slapped his thigh. He'd been stewing in frustration for days, unable to voice his grievances and forced to endure in silence. His rage intensified at that moment.

Gritting his teeth, he growled, "I ignored him, so he just said it outright. Doesn't that mean he thinks I'm done for and can walk all over me?"

Just then, Terry noticed someone at the door. "Is that Theron?"

Everyone in the room immediately stood up to greet him.

Theron's hair was streaked with gray, but his energy and presence were as strong as ever. He chuckled. "Did someone show up uninvited?"

Everyone in the Moore family treated him with the utmost respect. After all, he had been by Robert's late father, Kael's, side for a lifetime.

Kael had spent his life in politics, and Theron had handled or arranged many of his dealings.

When Robert was younger, he made his share of enemies. Theron was the one who stepped in to smooth things over each time.

When Theron heard that Edward, the child he had watched grow up, was being targeted by the Swanwicks, he came without hesitation.

Robert gave Theron a brief rundown of the situation.

Theron nodded, then asked, "Are you afraid of him?"

Robert responded, "No. But I've been suspended right now. I'm worried about Edward if I cross the Swanwicks. He built Prosper Stitch Group from the ground up. The Swanwicks might not have deep roots, but they could still make life difficult for a businessman."

That was why Robert had never supported Edward going into business in the first place.

"You're underestimating your son." Theron chuckled. "You really think he's just a businessman? If he were that easy to manipulate, do you think Prosper Stitch Group would've made it this far? He would've beencrushed a long time ago."

He continued. Relax and take it easy for the next six months. Edward can handle this. If he weren't worried about dragging you into trouble, with his temper, the Swanwicks wouldn't have even set foot in your house today." noveldrama

Terry frowned. "What do you mean, Mr. Yates?"

Theron paused, choosing his words carefully. "None of the elites in Lakeshore City are clean. But Edward knows all their secrets-and he's got plenty of leverage."

He glanced at Terry. "Take Stellan Cole, the senior official who promoted you. He once personally invited Edward to dinner. You didn't know that, did you?"

Silence fell over the room. No one was aware. As far as they knew, Edward had always focused on business-never politics.

"If you

don't know, then the

Swanwicks definitely don't either," Theron reassured them. "And if they know what's good for them, they' keep their mouths shut. If they try anything, someone will make sure they don't." sŵnovel

Politics and business were often intertwined. Those in power needed money to get things done and Edward had plenty of it.

He was just a businessman, but no one dared to cross him. Prosper Stitch Group had grown into a nationally recognized enterprise with government backing. Who would be foolish enough to challenge them?

Robert smacked his forehead. "I've been so stressed I forgot how much my son has grown. He's been in the business world for years. Of course, he has his own connections."

Barbara finally let out a breath of relief.

Theron suggested, "If you have nothing urgent, go stay in Greenfield City for a while."

"Good idea."

Without hesitation, they packed up and set off for Greenfield City that very night.

Edward had just returned to Greenfield City. He had assumed that Harrison's earlier excuse about Janice being hospitalized was just a cover story.

But as it turned out, it wasn't entirely made up. No one had expected her to actually end up in the hospital.

Edward immediately rushed over and found her sitting motionless in the lounge, staring blankly out the window.

Her state alarmed him. "What's wrong? Where do you feel unwell? Is it your stomach?"
