Chapter 159
Simone was not just doing it for Refined Threads Co. but also out of sheer spite
Prosper Stitch Group was monopolizing the supply and refusing to sell to him, so Simon was determined to show Edward that he could secure materials on his own.
Hearing that he had placed an order worth 40 million dollars, Janice could not help but smile. What an idiot.
Silk could not be stored in a warehouse for long. It would rot over time.
Simon, however, was emboldened by the fact that his bank account was about to be unfrozen. With 60 to 70 million dollars at his disposal, this amount was nothing to him.
Since the cost of raw materials had increased, the price of finished products would also rise. As long as Refined Threads Co. produced and sold their crochet pieces, he was bound to make a fortune.
After finishing the call, Simon put on a serious expression and acted as if he was making a grand gesture. "Janice, I'll pay you back. Your lawyer is here, right? Have him draft an IOU. I'll sign it."
He said this only to save his reputation. He did not want to appear as though he was living off her money, yet he did not care at all about the money she had already lent him. There was not a trace of gratitude in his words.
Janice tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and signaled to the lawyer. "Write one up for him."
The lawyer immediately took out a pen and paper and began drafting the IOU.
"I'm not lending it to you just to get it back, but since you are a businessman, everything should be handled properly."
Simon chuckled. "Of course. I always keep my promises."
With the IOU signed, he felt that any debt to her had been absolved.
Besides, he was certain she would never actually demand the money back. Her soft-hearted nature was something he knew like the back of his hand.
Once the IOU was signed and sealed, Simon said, "I'll get going."
She was used to his habit of leaving the moment he got what he wanted. "Alright. Make sure to pick up the goods in advance. Sign an IOU first, or there'll be nothing left."
Simon was slightly impatient. "I know."
Did she really need to remind him about something so obvious? Was he not smarter than her?
As she watched his car fade into the distance, a knowing smile played on Janice's lips. She thought to herself, "Simon, after six months, it's time for our positions to change."
In the evening, Janice returned home to have a New Year's Eve dinner with
Jacob. Over the years, they had grown used to quiet holiday meals. It never felt dull.
Her phone buzzed. It was a call from the company's vice director.
She answered, "Hello?"
Sunny reported, "Ms. Smith, the raw materials suppliers in Solterra have raised their prices by nearly four times, and the quality is not great either. It all happened rather erall
suddenly. Also, I heard that Refined Threads Co. has placed a large order..."
"No need to worry."
So, the price had gone up fourfold. That worked out wonderfully. That meant Simon would not be able to get as many raw materials as he expected.noveldrama
She just wondered how Edward had managed to get the suppliers to raise their prices by that much.
Meanwhile, in Lakeshore City, Edward received a call from the materials suppliers in Solterra.
"Mr. Moore, just as you predicted, even with the price quadrupling, someone still went ahead and placed an order worth 40 million dollars."
The person on the other end was grateful. "Thanks to your advice, I was able to clear out a batch of nearly expired stock. Otherwise, would've been in big trouble. I had my secretary send you a smalt gift as a token of appreciation, hope you don't mind."
Edward replied, "No need to be so polite. This is business. In the future, if Prosper
Stitch Group ever needs supplies, I hope you'll do us a favor."
"Of course."
After hanging up, Edward began to think.
Simon had bought at high prices but would have to sell at low prices. Not only would he lose money, but he would also completely drain his financial reserves.
Once news got out that Refined
Threads Co.'cash flow had been severed, the stock market would react immediately. By then, their products would no longer have a
place in the market. He had said he'd crush Refined Threads Co. in two
months, and it was not an empty boast.
Coincidentally, in two months, the international competition would begin.
"Edward." Matilda approached him. She had already heard that the surge in
material prices was orchestrated by her brother.
It was not just a matter of calling in favors. He had spent a significant amount of money as well.
"What's the point of doing all this?"
Was he really doing all this just to get back at them for Janice?
Edward lit a cigarette and took a moment before speaking. "Everything she wants to do, I'll pave the way for her as long as she stands by my side in the end."
What do you think?
