Chapter 23
The next day, Alicia found herself in Frederick's arms again when she opened her eyes. She was even holding him in her arms. She withdrew her hand secretly and could not wait to dig a hole to bury herself in the ground.
People would always say that she was being too defensive. However, why did she let down her guard so easily when it comes to him? Was it because of that piece of paper?
Alicia was too embarrassed to stay in bed. Thus, she got up and went to the kitchen early in the morning.
As soon as she went out, Frederick opened his eyes slowly, lost in thought.
It was because of this episode that Alicia did not dare to look directly at Frederick for several days, not to mention taking the initiative to talk to him.
In the blink of an eye, half of June had passed.
It was another busy day. This day, when Alicia walked out of the office building, the sky was already dark. Her mobile phone rang as soon as she got on the bus.
When she turned it on, her expression darkened in an instant as she thought, "It's his birthday again!"
Out of nowhere, some broken images popped up in her mind. In a trance, she exited the bus and wandered around for an unknown period of time. When she came back to her senses, she realized that she was already standing in front of a familiar nightclub.
Moonlight Bar!
The first birthday she spent with Jeremy and the first time she confessed her love to him was at the Moonlight Bar in Bayton City. In the past three years, no matter how busy she was, she would come here every year on this day to sing a song before 12 midnight.
Alicia stood in front of the door blankly for a moment. When she was about to turn around, she heard a familiar melody from the club all of a sudden.
Subconsciously, she walked in.
"So I'm gonna love you like I'm gonna lose you. I'm gonna hold you like I'm saying goodbye."
"Wherever we're standing. I won't take you for granted. 'Cause we'll never know when, when well run out of time..."
The familiar melody lingered in her ears. When she raised her eyes, she saw a figure in a fluttery white dress on the stage, who looked like herself from many years ago. She used to stand on the stage and sang this same old song affectionately with her silky long hair.
"Lindsay... Lindsay Crouch?" Alicia was surprised.
Her vision somehow blurred in an instant. Following her line of sight, she saw a familiar tall figure sitting on the same seat. Just like three years ago, he wore a light grey shirt with his cuffs rolled up. He sat up straight and he could not hide his deep affection for her as well.
When the last note fell, she saw the white figure walking down the stage amid the warm applause and kissed him on the lips. It was exactly what she did back then!
The past memories flashed on and on. Alicia still couldn't help staggering slightly.
Moonlight Bar was the place where they used to have a crush on each other!
"Like I'm Gonna Lose You" was the song she sang for him when she first confessed her love to him!
These were all that she had done in the past!
He had once said that this was the memory that was special to them. He would engrave it in his heart until the seas ran dry and the rocks crumbled.
He had said that she would sing this song for him on his birthday every year. This was her exclusive right.
He had said that she was irreplaceable no matter when it is!
He had said that his lips would never kiss another woman other than hers!
It turned out that all his promises and vows were just her own fantasy and persistence from the beginning to the end. Yet, she held onto them in vain for three years!
Her father's fallen figure, the mockery of being abandoned at the wedding, the embarrassment of being driven out, the miserable and tough life as well as all the grievance and humiliation in the past three years that she could not bear to recall...
This was the last straw. She finally understood how stupid she was!
After wiping the tears from the corners of her eyes, Alicia walked up slowly—Nôvel/Dr(a)ma.Org - Content owner.
