Chapter 1867
"Can you believe it, Vicki? I never thought of hurting you. The one who I didn't want to hurt the most... was you."
His dream had always been to protect her and make her happy. What happened back then was the biggest regret and mistake in his life, but it was the only mistake that he couldn't undo.
"I suddenly miss the days when we would go shopping together..."
If he had known that the accident would happen, he would have chosen not to show up at the hotel with her that day. If only he could stop time at that moment! They used to be so sweet and happy. They had been together for so long, yet they never even had a fight.
His heart ached badly. With his eyes closed, Anthony couldn't help but clench his fist under the table.
All his hopes and future were for naught. Every step that he took was the wrong one, but when he tried to backtrack, he always ended up on a path that he didn't want to go down.
He didn't want to give up on her, yet he had personally pushed her to be with another man. He hadn't wanted to go down a criminal bath, but his household debt and concern for her forced him in that direction. He didn't like Hazel, and he didn't want to be a despicable villain who didn't have any dignity. He didn't want to hurt innocent people, and he didn't like to play with others' feelings. However, he had done every single thing that he used to hate, and he was no longer the cheery man he once was. He could no longer stand by her side without any guilt. Right then, he might not even be worthy of being innocent.
He had given up on his dignity and personality. For a time, he had messed around with women and became a stranger to himself. For his own sake, he had to hurt countless girls... It didn't matter since it was to protect Victoria. He had never forced any woman to come to his side, so everyone who joined him had only done so willingly for money or drugs. Therefore, he did not regret using them as a shield.
It was a win-win situation. Since he could see her safe and sound, it was all worth
it.
While he was in a trance, he heard the resonating voice of a woman. "I believe you."
Anthony's eyes shot open and he was stunned momentarily.
Their gazes met, and Victoria smiled lightly.
"No matter what happened in the past, you are still the kind, honest, kind, and good Anthony that I once knew. Anthony, we are all ordinary people who can act on impulse and make mistakes. Even if you and Trevor were wrong in that matter, you two tried to make amends for me all these years, so wouldn't it be wrong for me to hold onto my anger and resentment? After being involved in that whole situation for so many years, things aren't going to end well for any of us. My fate has changed, and so has yours. Let go of the past. No matter how we once were, you still protected me at a crucial moment and kept your promise to me. I still want to thank you! If I was able to give you everything you wanted, you were able to do the same for me, too. You made the right choice by turning back in time. All's well that ends well, right? Don't worry about the past. You are still young, and honestly, you're the only one who wasn't able to free yourself from the issue back then. Have you forgotten that? This is a God-given chance. You've gone through so much, so how can you not get it? Three years isn't necessarily a short time, but it's not very long, either. You've done a good deed. If you cooperate well, you can come out early. Don't get involved with those things again."
After saying that, Victoria couldn't help sighing internally.
She had said what she needed to. Anthony was silent. Finally, the two looked at each other and smiled. They had a silent understanding toward each other. Thus, Victoria got up and left.
As soon as she walked out, she saw Trevor standing at the door of the hall, with one hand on his chin. It was impossible to guess what he was thinking. He seemed to be pacing back and forth restlessly. As soon as he saw her, he strode over, then tilted his head and looked at her. After that, he reached out and grabbed one of her arms.
"Are you done talking?"
"Yeah."
Victoria didn't continue speaking for a long time after that, so Trevor turned back and said, "Let's go, then!"
They got in the car and he helped her fasten her seat belt. For some reason, Trevor glimpsed at her a few times before finally tugging at his seat belt. However, he did not buckle it for quite a while. When he came back to his senses, Victoria could not help but giggle.
"Hehe..."
She raised her hand and helped him buckle it. "Do you want to know what we talked about?"
With Trevor's restless expression, it was obvious that he had something weighing on his mind. He looked as if he wanted to ask, but didn't dare to. Seeing him like that was a moment of rare cuteness.
Trevor nodded seriously. He wasn't trying to be a hypocrite, but he still couldn't help but blush. He held one of her hands and unconsciously clenched it a little more tightly.
"Yes, but only if you want to tell me. If not, then..."
He could probably guess most of the topics they had discussed. However, Anthony had a history with her, and Trevor was in a rather passive position. Even if he was seen as a god among playboys, he was only human in the end. It was inevitable for him to lose confidence when it came to his true feelings.
"Actually, I just wanted to say thank you to him. I also wanted to know if he really was helping me in the past..."
Victoria proceeded to roughly sum up what she had talked about with Anthony.
"He used to be such a warm and bright person. I can't imagine it. I truly didn't expect him to go down this path."
She especially hadn't expected him to get to this point.
Not to mention, it seemed that he had done quite a lot of heinous things. From what she knew, he wasn't the type to get involved in that line of work at all. He didn't look like the kind of person to do things like that, but it turned out that you couldn't judge a book by its cover.
"Why do you make it sound like it's normal when I do it, but when he does it, you feel a lot of sympathy for him?" Trevor asked.
She had called him bright. Did that mean Trevor was gloomy?
Before he could even sigh, Victoria seized his slightly pursed lips. She turned around and rolled her eyes at him, then took the initiative to hook his neck and touch his lips gently.
"You are so narrow-minded! How can he compare to you? You're Master Trevor of Casterwich City. There's nothing you don't dare to do, and nothing you're not qualified for," she reassured.
Her gentle compliment instantly made Trevor feel a little proud. "Even though what I've done isn't good or thorough enough, I can do anything that he would do for you."
He caressed her silky cheeks. Trevor grabbed her dainty head and rubbed it against his own forehead. He would do it even if he had to sacrifice his own life.
With her around, life was more interesting. Otherwise, it would be like living in a pool of stagnant water.
"No, you have done enough. I'm sure of that."
Victoria replied to him with a smile. She didn't know when it had started, but whenever she was in danger, he always made her feel warm and cared for. It was enough, really.
Right then, she felt happy like never before, and incredibly satisfied.
"Hubby, the heavens led me to you. All of a sudden, I became your woman. I'm all yours for the rest of my life. You're such an amazing thief that you even managed to steal my heart," she teased.
"Haha! In that case, I'll have to compensate you with my own heart," he said.
Trevor lowered his head and gave her a deep kiss. He toyed with her tiny hand, then Trevor started the car with a grin on his face.
The black car gradually sped away, leaving the prison of cold iron bars behind it. The past seemed to drift away with the wind as if it had been infected by their
laughter.
Time flowed like sand. Their days passed peacefully and joyfully.
Before they knew it, it was time for a prenatal check-up again. When Waverly woke up in the morning, she clumsily walked into the room with her big belly. After walking for less than two laps, she was so tired that her legs began to ache. After taking out the prenatal check-up documents, she sat down on the sofa on one side and leaned back.
Wyatt, who had just taken a shower, saw her and asked, "Are you done walking around?"
She had the habit of walking around after waking up in the morning as well as before and after meals. However, her belly had gotten too big. She used to want
to go out whenever she was bored, but as of late, she struggled to even walk around.
Nodding, Waverly subconsciously took another deep breath. "Yeah..."
"Did the baby move? Did it kick you?" he questioned.
Waverly looked down at her belly and grinned. "It's been quiet after eating its fill
and playing. The baby is being a good kid right now! I have no idea what position it's in, though, but it really hurts."
She leaned backward and involuntarily rubbed the spot below her ribs. She could vaguely sense something tough.
Wyatt sat next to her and stretched out his hand to give her a massage.
He murmured, "Be good, kiddo. Look how much your mom is suffering while pregnant with you. Be a good kid, okay? You can't get angry and kick mommy while you're inside her womb. Be careful, or else I'm going to spank you once you're out here!"
As soon as Wyatt said that, Waverly let out a muffled scream. "Argh!"
"What's wrong?"
Shocked, Wyatt jumped up from the sofa and retracted his hand.
Waverly smiled and patted her stomach gently. Then, she glanced up at him and said, "It kicked me! It's all because you were spouting
l.ne
nonsense just now. This kid has
be
bad temper. I wonder who that
reminds me of? It really won't let you say a single bad thing about it."
Pregnancy was really a mystical thing.
The baby was only 28 weeks old, yet it seemed to be able to understand human language. The moment it was upset, it would start kicking.
Her tender actions which were full of maternal love instantly made Waverly's pale
skin seem more and more delicate. It was as if her skin was bathed in soft light, with a special charm.
Wyatt chuckled, causing his eyes to narrow as he slowly sat back down. "It was
able to understand me? How smart! Come, let's go down and eat. After the meal, I'll go to the check-up with you."noveldrama
After adjusting her loose clothes, Wyatt carefully helped her up while getting up himself. Nonetheless, he could clearly feel her body stiffen up. He stood still and raised his hand to touch her hair.
"It's been seven months. Don't be nervous, it's okay!"
enet
Every check-up was like a breakthrough, especially considering that she had two children in her belly. As soon as she went to the hospital, she would get extremely nervous. At first, it was said to be
due to high blood sugar, which meant that she hadn't eaten fruits in
a long time.
