Chapter 1844
After a pause, Seth continued speaking.
"I went to the police station with the lawyer just now to try and bail him out, but they're cracking down on the case right now. This time, it was deemed to be a case of ill intent. No matter how much money we offer, the police won't take it. They said that they want us to come back and wait. They also stated that we have to be punished according to the law!"
He added, "I still don't get it. We only stopped temporarily. Why did Wyatt call Franklin and go to that alley? The fact that the alley is in the surveillance cameras' blind spot is such a coincidence, too. There's no footage of what happened at all! The evidence captured by the surveillance is very unfavorable to Wyatt! Franklin is in a coma, and the police won't allow us to see him. They told us that only his family members are allowed to go and help send him some clothes, as well as change and wash them."
"Also, the people in the Wright family are all psychos. The situation hasn't even been cleared up yet, and they are already saying that they are going to fight us to the death. With them messing around, it will be more difficult for us to deal with them! However, in the hospital, Franklin is still seriously injured. Apparently, he went straight to the ICU after receiving emergency treatment. We tried to get Carson to help treat him, but they wouldn't let him in!" he exclaimed.
The more Seth went on, the angrier and more anxious he became. In fact, Seth had already made up his mind.
"I suspect that this is all a set-up! Everything could have been orchestrated by someone. The key is that now even the knife only has Wyatt's fingerprints. The lawyer also said that only the evidence matters when it comes to a case. If there are witnesses and material evidence, I think it'll be hard to clear Wyatt of his charges. Not to mention, there's even a well-founded motive this time around, so it'll be a huge problem if he gets sentenced. Intentional injury may result in imprisonment based on the situation. In mild cases, the culprit will be sentenced for less than three years, but in severe cases, it can range from three to ten years."
"If we can't find any evidence during this period of time, Wyatt might just die from this injustice! This is so f*cking annoying! If Wyatt really wanted to take someone's life with his own hands, why would he be stupid enough to let himself get caught? What I'm most afraid of right now is that we've already fallen into someone else's trap. If every step of ours has already been predicted, then it would be too difficult for us to find evidence..."
If they were one step behind others, they would definitely end up getting controlled by someone else.
Waverly's eyes darkened. She understood very well that the last piece of the puzzle for the case, which was the so-called motive, was herself. She was shocked, then suddenly remembered Franklin's warning.
"Waverly, I don't want to hurt you. However, that thing is very important to me. I need to have it. Think about it. Once you've figured it out, hurry up and tell me. I'll give you three days. If I don't get a satisfactory answer this time around, then don't blame me for what I'm about to do."
"That's all I want to say. Think about it carefully, Waverly. I don't want anyone other than you and me to know about this, including Wyatt. Otherwise, you'll have to pay the price."
"I'm sorry, Waverly."
Could it be all his doing?
He hadn't been apologizing for what happened in the past. Instead, it was for the false accusations that he was going to make.
It was all a ruse to win her trust.
Although there was a slight discrepancy in the time, when she put it all together, it seemed to be the only explanation. It would explain why Franklin would suddenly sue her despite not having any intentions toward her.
It was because of the chip. Everything was for the thing in her possession.noveldrama
He had come back to life, changed his attitude, and suddenly sued them. Right then, he was willing to risk his life for what she had. Did Franklin have something to do with drugs?
Everything might have been a part of Franklin's plan, at least from the start of the lawsuit, while they were all pawns on his board. Even when they had already figured it out, the chessboard was already in place.
D*mn it!
Was it because he couldn't get any clues out of her? Had he changed his mind and tried to force her to hand over the formula by scheming against Wyatt?
If that was the case, then this was clearly a case of framing. There was still hope.
Despite that, she didn't know if he had actually fallen unconscious due to his serious injuries or if he was just faking it.
If it was all a part of Franklin's plot, then it would be fine. However, if something unexpected happened to him which caused his current serious injuries, wasn't it likely that Wyatt would get dragged down with him?
Waverly's face was as pale as a sheet. Her expression was solemn as well, but she had already found the formula. In any case, she felt confident, and her rationality began to recover.
"What are you thinking about, Waverly? Did you hear what I said?"
She heard Seth's voice again and snapped back to reality. Waverly's eyes glazed over as she asked, "What did you say?"
"Don't worry too much, Waverly. We'll think of a way to save Wyatt! I said that we might not be able to hide this situation. Should we tell his parents?"
The more people were on their side, the more manpower they would have.
After thinking for a while, Waverly firmly refused. "No!" It was possible that they could solve the issue before it began spreading.
"No matter what the specifics of the situation are, it isn't something to be proud of. You know what kind of position Wyatt has in the Johnson family His parents are getting old, and his sisters have their own lives, too. Telling them now will only make more people worry. If anything happens, things will only get worse. It's better to keep the issue under wraps."
Shocked by Waverly's aura, Seth was visibly stunned for three seconds.
After taking a breath, Waverly continued.
"What I mean is that we should at least figure things out before telling my family. Otherwise, if we don't have a proper understanding of the situation and end up blurting things incoherently, it'll only make things more complicated. It might even affect our judgment."
"You're right, Waverly."
Seth subconsciously glanced at Waverly. In that instant, he seemed to see Wyatt's shadow looming over her. Usually, she was lazy, harmless, and even kind. It was as if she was a baby leopard lazily licking its claws under the shade of the tree. On the surface, it looked cute and perfect, but as soon as it felt movement in the grass, it would instantly bare its ferocious claws.
While he was still lost in his thoughts, Waverly had already roughly organized everything.
She said, "Right now, there are some things we need to do. First, we can't bail him out forcibly. We absolutely cannot try to bribe them or put pressure on them. We are at a disadvantage now, and we need to keep a low profile. We can't let anyone get leverage against us, even if that means we have to let Wyatt suffer. Second, we can't let the press make a statement. We have to try our best to keep it hidden. If we can't, we will hold a press conference and explain it clearly. We have to paint ourselves as the victims and beg for help. For all we
know, the public might be able to help us. Third, we have to get our hands on all the evidence, witnesses, and surveillance footage that we can. Other than finding out the truth about the situation on our own, we also need to know what the other party wants by suing us. If nothing else, we can at least have an advantage when it comes to the lawsuit. Now that technology is so developed, nobody can commit the perfect crime. I believe that if Wyatt is innocent, no one can frame him, and the law will definitely be able to get us justice! One last thing. When I go to send him clothes, I absolutely have to meet up with him. I don't think this will be very difficult. Even if he committed a serious crime, I doubt they would stop me from visiting. After all, testimonies from family members have a high chance of being invalid. Thus, even if I go to
see him alone, it won't be a huge disadvantage to us even if others find out. We can play the emotional card. It makes sense!"
What do you think?
