Chapter 140
Read Omega’s Possession by Jessica Hall Book 2 Chapter 38 – HARLOW POV
Tears burn my eyes when Corbin sits me on his lap while he draws a bath. Minutes later, I am surrounded by his mates as they start stripping my clothes. Corbin climbs into the bathtub first when I am passed to him and placed between his legs.
The water is hot and stings my skin, and I can do nothing except endure the torment of them washing me like I am some prized jewel. Corbin purrs, using his calling, and I fight against it, refusing to give into the rolling sensation as it moves over my skin. Yet pain slivered up my spine, causing me to sweat.
“Don’t fight it, Harlow. Such a stubborn little Omega.” He coos while dragging the loofah across my skin. I was like a rag doll as I am pulled around and tugged on yet the longer I was in the bath, the more I was beginning to feel my limbs again.
The stronger I got. When he was done, he passes me to a man they kept calling Slater. Surprisingly, they all treated me like I was made of glass, compliantly I let them believe the effects of the drugs were still in effect while they dressed me in a chemise as if I was their personal doll.
“Are we sure this will work? What if he still kills us?” Kingsley asks Corbin as he places me on his lap. My heart skips a beat at the thought of them marking me, the thought of them forcing me to mark them.
“Thane won’t risk her life. He will be forced to let her go, the councils also won’t allow him to kill me if an Omega’s life is at stake, they are too rare these days.” Corbin speaks confidentially.
“Come, let’s get her to the den, so we can prepare her. I want her marked and mated as soon as possible.” Corbin states taking me from Kingsley, who seems reluctant to let me go.
“Get my serum from the fridge, Corbin calls over his shoulder as we step out of the room and head back the way we came. We pass the library and I see Bree. She rushes to her Uncle, clutching his arm.
“Bree, I haven’t got time for this!” He growls at her.
“Just help me get him to a car, I will leave.” Corbin laughs and shakes his head. “Stupid naive girl, there is no leaving here. The mountain is surrounded by authorities, the only way in or out is the tunnels.” Corbin tells her about to turn away.
“But we had a deal!” She yells angrily. I avert my gaze looking for Talon, when my eyes spot him he gives me a slight nod and my brows furrow.
“And you were stupid enough to take it! And for that pr**ck?” Corbin growls, “Kingsley my serum, just ignore her.” Corbin yells over his shoulder, and my lip quivers as I try to figure out a way to get out of this mess.
Kingsley wanders off with Slater and another man whose name I hadn’t heard spoken yet. Panic raises goosebumps on my arms when Corbin turns toward a door that is being held open by another of his mates, and I fight.
My claws slip from my fingers and rake down his face, forcing him to drop me, and I run for the bookshell I know has a door behind it. Before I reach it, arms lock around my waist, but only momentarily when my grabber is tackled. Bree screams her head off, and I am tossed into a nearby shelf when I notice Talon was no longer where he was.
Looking over my shoulder I see him fighting Corbin and his mates trying to once again protect me, only this time he didn’t have the ability to shift when he looks over his shoulder briefly. Talon I knew needed blood since he was a hybrid like Leon, so his ability to heal was very much muted.
“Run!” he screams at me, and my breath hitches as I get to my feet. I scramble for the bookshelves, looking for the right one and yanking it aside. The moment I do, I am smashed by a cold draft. With one last look over my shoulder, Bree is screaming trying to get Kingsley off Tal who was holding Corbin from getting up.
A whimper escapes me, but this is my only shot, so I force my jelly-like legs to run down the steps. My feet echo in the tunnels as I run, and I can hear them giving chase, making me wonder if Tal is alright, yet knowing he isn’t.
When I reach the bottom, I am on the verge of passing out yet fight it back when I hit the gate blocking the end. I yank on it trying to open it, before scanning my surroundings, my hands brush the walls hitting a box as their steps get closer.
My fingertips feel numb as I fumble to pry the lid off and see the key inside, I twist it and the gate swings open. I slam it shut behind me as I run out, hoping to buy a little time as I figure out which way to run.
The simplest would be downhill, so that is what I do, I run.
I had been running for about five minutes in the dark when my feet hit air, I flew forward, landing on my stomach in the dirt, only when I tried to get to my feet a growl cuts me off.
Lifting my head, I notice the mistake I made instantly. Not that it was my fault, it’s pitch black and the woods dense. However, when I lift my head, I come nose to nose with a rogue. Another growl from the side of me tells me I am surrounded and fallen into a den of sorts.
I crawl back while the rogue stalks me and I dig my nails into the dirt wanting to shift, yet nothing as the drugs still burn in my system somewhat. The rogue sniffs the air and c***ks its head to the side, recognizing me as an Omega. A loud whine leaves its mouth and its tongue lolls out its mouth. This can’t
be f**king happening. What f**king karmic debt from a past life am I suffering for me to have this much bad luck.
Running footsteps and yelling sounds further up the hill, and I grit my teeth, knowing my chances were better with Corbin than with these rogues. These rogues would rape and kill me straight afterward. I scramble backward on my hands and knees while the rogue prowls toward me. I pivot trying to watch them all and find there are five. Regretting it and cursing the moon goddess, I scream, alerting Corbin and his mates to my location, not having another choice. The moment I do, the rogue lunges at me and I roll out of its way
and narrowly miss the one off the side’s teeth sinking into me.
My fingers find a branch and I grab it before I get to my feet, hands clutching the branch as the rogues circle me. A murky gray one lunges at me and I swing the branch, connecting with its head when a feral growl echoes and I turn to see the other one attack.
My breath lodges in my throat, knowing I am about to die when I am thrust forward, a heavy weight landing on me and crushing me to the ground. Only, instead of teeth and claws ripping into my soft flesh. Fur sweeps across it.
A menacing growl sounds from above, and I realize Corbin’s huge wolf was covering my body with his. He snarls gnashing his teeth at the rogues as his aura rips out, making me whimper and so do the rogues before they can no longer take it and scamper off, leaving me beneath his beast.
