In a unknown and vast expanse, the scent of blood filled the air, mingling with the darkness that enveloped the surroundings. Corpses littered the ground, a macabre scene that belonged to a nightmare.
Alpha Kilian, the leader of the pack, frantically searched the area, his eyes darting from one corner to another, desperately seeking something. Each door he opened led him deeper into the abyss of horror. Finally, he stumbled upon a small courtyard, the sight within causing a shiver to run down his spine. Deep trenches carved the earth, a grim reminder of the lives lost. As he unknowingly stepped on something soft, he turned, only to find countless corpses of Nelly lying in the trenches.
His eyes shot open, fear and panic still etched across his face. “Nelly!” he cried out in anguish.
Nelly stood by the window, her eyes filled with confusion as she heard his voice. She turned to face him, worry etched across her features.
Alpha Kilian struggled to sit upright, the pain from his torn abdomen causing his brows to furrow. Nelly rushed to his side, concern evident in her voice. “What’s wrong? Are you alright?”
Sweat dripped down Alpha Kilian’s forehead as he panted for breath. His pale face reflected the trauma of his nightmare, his blank stare showing that he was still caught in its grip. Before Nelly could say another word, Alpha Kilian pulled her into a tight embrace, holding onto her as if she was his lifeline.
Nelly stood frozen, stunned by his sudden display of affection.
After what felt like an eternity, she finally managed to speak. “W-What are you doing?”
Alpha Kilian remained silent, clinging onto her as if afraid of losing her again.
As he thought about the horrors he had witnessed in his dream, his heart constricted, suffocating him. The relief of seeing her safe and sound overwhelmed him, and he clung onto her, cherishing the preciousness he thought he had lost.
Minutes turned into hours as they remained locked in each other’s embrace. Finally, Nelly found her voice. “Did… you have a nightmare? Did you dream about… me?”
It was both a question and a statement, knowing deep down the answer.
Alpha Kilian had a sudden realization. Slowly, he calmed himself, releasing his hold on Nelly.
His gaze was filled with unease as he looked at her. “How are you feeling? Are you alright?”
Nelly nodded, reassuring him. “Yes, I’m fine. But you… you’re not.”
Alpha Kilian nodded, acknowledging her concern.
In that moment, Nelly’s eyes caught sight of the wound on his abdomen. The exertion of their embrace had caused it to start bleeding again.
“I’ll go get the doctor,” she offered, ready to spring into action.
But just as she was about to leave, Alpha Kilian reached out and grasped her hand, stopping her in her tracks.
Nelly turned to look at his hand, then at him, confusion etched across her face.
“I’m fine,” he replied, gesturing for her to sit. “Stay, talk with me for a while.”
Nelly hesitated for a moment before settling down by the bedside, her gaze fixed on him.
Alpha Kilian observed her, his sickly appearance contrasting with the commanding presence he still possessed. “Explain,” he said, his voice laced with urgency.
Nelly raised an eyebrow, prompting him to continue.
“Why did you push me away yesterday?” he asked, determination burning in his eyes.
Nelly expected him to question her about Tony, mentally preparing herself for it. After a moment of contemplation, she responded, “Because I wanted to handle it on my own.”
Alpha Kilian narrowed his eyes, frustration evident in his gaze. “Do you understand the risks? You were putting yourself in danger.”
Nelly couldn’t deny this fact.
There was a hint of desperation in Alpha Kilian’s eyes as he stared at her. “Did you do it for Old Mr. Jackson and the kids?” he inquired, a mixture of curiosity and certainty in his voice.
Nelly remained silent, her lips sealed.
A cold smirk curled up on Alpha Kilian’s lips. “Nelly, you can just tell me-”
“Tell me what?” Nelly interrupted him, her voice laced with a touch of defiance. She scoffed and looked him in the eye. “Alpha Kilian, we are divorced. There is no reason for you to help me. I don’t want to owe you anything. Why should I let you be involved?”
Alpha Kilian glanced at her, his teeth grinding together. “Is that truly what you think, Nelly?”
“Yes,” she replied, her answer resolute.
“Then do you not owe me anything now?” Alpha Kilian pressed, his voice tinged with bitterness. “With Donna and Ben in the picture, our lives will always be intertwined!”
Nelly never intended to deny their connection.
“Yes,” she admitted, a hint of weariness in her voice.
Alpha Kilian wasn’t sure if he should be relieved or frustrated at her response.
As he continued to stare at her, he realized that she was a tough nut to crack.
After a long contemplation, he said, his voice weighted with meaning, “Alright. If you don’t want me involved, that’s fine. But consider this, Nelly, if Old Mr. Jackson and the children knew what you were planning, how do you think they would react? And if something were to happen to you…”
That was Nelly’s vulnerability, the one thing she couldn’t ignore.
She may care about nothing else, but they were the exception.NôvelDrama.Org: text © owner.
Silently, Nelly acknowledged his words.
“Nelly, if you have any smarts left in you, don’t reject help,” Alpha Kilian said, his gaze intense. “Even if you’re using me, at the very least, protect yourself.” Each word was enunciated with purpose.
Nelly glanced at him, surprise flickering in her clear eyes.
Alpha Kilian seemed deadly serious.
“Using you… Do you believe you’re someone who can be easily used?” she challenged him, her voice laced with skepticism.
“Of course not,” Alpha Kilian responded, never breaking his eye contact. “But for you, Nelly, I am more than willing to.”
A momentary silence passed between them.
In that moment, silence held more meaning than any words they could utter.
Just as the tension became almost unbearable, the door swung open, shattering the fragile connection they had forged.
Alpha King Larry rushed in, his face etched with worry. “Alpha Kilian, you brat! You nearly gave me a heart attack! Something this big happened, and you didn’t even inform me! Trying to give me a heart attack, aren’t you?”
Nelly quickly stepped back, her presence almost forgotten in the wake of Alpha King Larry’s entrance.
“Alpha King Larry,” she greeted him.
Alpha King Larry’s eyes widened as he took in her presence, then glanced back at Alpha Kilian, who lay on the bed. Despite his bandages and weakened state, there was a glint of determination in his eyes.
“Oh, so Nelly is here too,” Alpha King Larry remarked, his concern shifting towards her.
Nelly nodded in acknowledgement.
Alpha King Larry walked up to her, his voice filled with worry. “How are you holding up? Are you injured?”
“I’m fine. It’s just that…” Her gaze traveled back to Alpha Kilian, his wounded figure still fresh in her mind. “Alpha King Larry, Alpha Kilian got hurt trying to save me. I wanted to inform you, but circumstances prevented me. I take full responsibility for what happened.”
Nelly knew that despite any scolding Alpha King Larry would deliver, he held a deep affection for Alpha Kilian.
And since she was the one who caused his injury, Nelly refused to hide the truth.
