Messed
Lily could hear Victor’s heavy steps following her up the stairs. Something seemed to be dragging her feet as she ran until she closed the door to her room. Even though she knew it was also pointless, she locked it. She was at a loss for what to do. For Orion to be lying on the floor, Victor must have done something to him.
Opening the sliding door on the balcony for an escape was a considered plan, but unless she intended to die, she ought not to have jumped out. The ground-level ceiling in Drew’s home was taller than usual, which made the upper floors even higher.
Loud and forceful knocks from the door startled her. “Lily! Did you instruct your husband to exact revenge against my restaurant? This is all your fault! You little fucking whore!”
‘No!’
A little while later, the sturdy wood of her bedroom door began to creak.
“Lily!” Victor yelled from outside, his anger evident in his tone. He attempted to smash down her door, convincing her that she needed to find a way out of this situation.
‘Where did I put my phone?’
She located it in one of her drawers and dialed Drew’s number. However, the connection couldn’t reach him, and she didn’t even hear a single ring. Lily’s tears started to flow, especially when the door began to slam.
A powerful kick from the outside caused her door to swing open, startling her and making her drop her phone. Lily made her way over to the bed, then crawled into the corner, hugging herself tightly. Victor appeared in her view with squinting eyes.
“You haven’t learned anything, Lily. Didn’t Kenneth already tell you it’s impossible to resist me?” he remarked with a gloomy expression.
She cried out, “Get away from me! I don’t know what you’re talking about!”
Victor approached her. He easily pulled her foot closer, causing her scream to fill Drew’s residence.

By then, she wasn’t expecting to find Orion behind Victor. Her eyes widened. Victor’s head received a strong iron blow from her bodyguard. The man collapsed on top of her, causing her body to quiver even more.
That’s when Lily’s sobs broke out. She pushed the man’s body before crawling back to the edge of the bed.
“Lily!” They heard Drew’s voice coming from outside the room.
Just then, she saw her husband’s large bulk appear at the open door. Drew’s eyes found Victor lying on the bed with blood dripping from his head. On the headboard, Lily was holding herself as tears streamed down her face.
She got off the bed and went over to hug Drew. Her husband gave her a firm embrace.
‘You are safe now, Lily,’ she told herself. However, she still could not control her emotions.
“Damn it! What happened here?” asked Drew, tenderly hugging her body.
Orion began explaining. “Vivian came here earlier, so I brought her outside the gate. I spotted the odd car parked outside, even though Vivian’s car had already departed, so I grew suspicious. After a couple of days staying here, I was already familiar with the neighbors’ vehicles.”
“Vivian came here?” Disgust appeared on Drew’s face.
“To prevent any issues, I dismissed the helpers we had recruited to help us bring in the things we were still waiting for. I also called the appliance store and canceled today’s delivery. I was expecting someone to sneak in because there were people here that we weren’t familiar with. I felt something was off and didn’t think this moron had come in.”
“Maybe he followed Vivian while we were at the gym area. He added medicine to the beverage that Ms. Lily had prepared… I feigned sipping the drink so I could see what would transpire. When he followed Lily, I went to the extension room to retrieve a weight. After realizing that the bastard had opened the door, I hurried to save Ms. Lily. But I still want to apologize because I miscalculated. This should not have happened.”
Drew’s expression darkened as he listened to everything. Lily’s tears had soaked through his polo shirt, and her body continued to tremble without showing any signs of abating.
“Take that one jerk upstairs; you know what to do,” Drew ordered Orion.
“W-what are you going to do?” Lily asked. At all costs, she didn’t want to see Victor any longer.
“He messed with me, Lily. I have no plans to just let go of what he did… Come…” Drew guided her to his room, urging her to sit on his wide bed while her body continued to tremble. “I’ll make sure that fool gets an education, and pushing my boundaries by aggravating me was a serious mistake.”
“I’m scared for you, Drew. What if something happens to you? Does he have any harmful intentions for Victor?”
His appearance was still gloomy, yet he was making an effort to set aside his bad mood for the sake of his wife.
“What if you’re the one who got hurt, Lily? I did my best to discipline him in a way that wouldn’t harm anyone. It appears that I didn’t do enough. I’ll make sure that one goes to jail, but before we accuse him of breaking into our home, he needs to understand that what he did to you was a grave mistake.”
“Boss, I sent that jerk upstairs,” Orion announced from the door.
“Light a cigarette,” her husband ordered.
It was obvious that he was determined about his plans for Victor, rendering her silent. Drew left for a while. When he returned, he brought a glass of water, which helped calm her down.
“Come…” Drew said.
Despite Lily’s fear, she followed Drew to the third floor of their house. He opened one of the guest rooms and found Orion smoking beside the window. Victor was seated on a chair without his upper clothing on. He opened his eyes just a little, still dizzy from Orion’s blow. Drew’s shoes appeared in the man’s field of vision before he could see the dark form of her husband.
Suddenly, he flinched and attempted to struggle, realizing that his wrists were tied behind his back.
“Drew Walton!” yelled Victor, gritting his teeth.
“That’s right!”
“You shouldn’t be here! I heard you’ll be back the next day!”
“Well, I might just be your nightmare, then.”
“Let me go! What are your plans for me? I will report you to the police!”
Drew sneered. “Surveillance cameras cover various areas of this property, so you would be the one in trouble. You not only broke into my home without my permission but also spiked the drink and destroyed Lily’s room. It’s funny how you took revenge on my wife when it was your fault in the first place.”
Fear showed in Victor’s face. “Let me go! I-I wasn’t in my right mind… It was Lily!” He looked at her. “She’s to blame! She’s manipulating your mind to get revenge on me!”
But Lily flinched the moment Drew delivered a hard blow to his face to put an end to his nonsense.

Drew’s chest still heaved with anger, his patience with Kenneth’s group wearing dangerously thin. Earlier, he had heard Lily’s scream just as he stepped out of his car. The desperation in her cry had sent a shiver of horror down his spine.
Victor endured another powerful blow from Drew as he said, “You keep blaming my wife for the nonsense you did.”
“Tsk! She’s a slut! We played with her.” He obviously sought to further enrage Drew by saying, “You acted all high and mighty, while we had already taken advantage of your wife. Aren’t you ashamed?”
Drew punched him again before yelling, “Orion!”
“Boss?”
“The cigarette.”
The man handed him a lit cigarette stick that he had just puffed on. Panic spread across Victor’s face as he realized he was in serious trouble.
“W-what are planning to do?” he asked.
Drew found himself engulfed in darkness and struggled to think clearly. “It’s not me… You should realize that messing with me is never a smart plan.”
Drew turned to face Lily and gave her the lit cigar. Uncertain of what to do, her eyes widened.
“You have to fight, Lily. I’m handing him over to you. Do to him what he did to you! Do not fear; he won’t harm you any longer,” he said, like the demon king he had once alluded to. Lily’s body trembled. He could see the rage in her eyes directed at Victor, and she accepted the challenge.
“Tsk! Do it, Lily! Do it and let’s see what will happen next!”
Drew did not like the threat in Victor’s voice at all. He was offering Lily the opportunity to exact revenge on herself, and she had to overcome her fear.
“You know, it’s either me or Lily; you’ll still get what you deserve.”
As his wife’s body trembled with conflicted feelings, he signaled Orion. Understanding what he meant, the bodyguard took the used shirt Victor had been wearing and shoved it into his mouth.
“Hmmm! Hmmm!” Victor’s eyes almost popped out as he struggled to get out of Orion’s tight grip.
Drew told Lily, “Just let me know if you can’t do it.” He wouldn’t pressure her, but it would make him feel better if she displayed some bravery by presenting Victor with one of her unpleasant memories that he had inflicted.
Lily had already approached Victor. Clenching her hand, his wife pressed the red-burning end of the cigarette against Victor’s chest, the same body part where he had marked her. Lily’s eyes welled up with tears, but she gritted her teeth and suppressed her fright.
“Hmmm! Hmmm!” The man’s thin, vulnerable skin began to blister and bleed as he uncomfortably struggled to remain seated. Orion held him tightly, his expression emotionless.
Did Lily experience the same thing while Victor was torturing his wife? That notion made Drew desire to hit the jerk. Just then, Lily dropped the cigarette while sobbing. Victor was restrained from screaming and attempting to scream as he appeared to have lost consciousness.
She was being held in Drew’s arms as he whispered, “Shhhh… It’s okay.” He felt terrible about how she was. “Orion, call the police.”
“Are you sure? Lily could get into trouble.”
“No. I will explain if they ask why we resorted to such measures. I will ensure that the guy goes to jail for what he did today.” That will also send a clear message to his friends that messing with him is not a wise choice. They should not even consider it.
“Okay.” Orion shrugged before taking his phone out of his pocket.
He carried Lily and then laid her down on their bedroom floor. The incident had clearly drained her-mind, body, and soul.
He attempted to console her, saying, “Everything’s fine, babe. How are you feeling right now?”
“I don’t know what might have happened if Orion hadn’t come to my aid at the right moment. Victor was furious with me, and I dread to think what he could have done.”
She was right. He had been contemplating what he might have had to do with Victor’s body. If he had arrived late…
“What’s important now is that you’re safe.”
