Branch One Hundred and Nine
As they all sat down to dinner smiles flew around effortlessly. Jessica was for once to be a part of whatever it was that was going on in there.
Jessica felt her phone vibrate in her pocket. She removed and turned off the call before dropping it to the table.
“You can get that,” Dawson said gesturing to her.
“Oh don’t worry, I will call them back after dinner” She knew that there was no way she would pick up the call of her aunt in the presence of everyone there. She did not even want to affiliate herself with the woman.
The phone went off a couple of more times before she stopped calling. Jessica knew that she was going to call back. She did this funny thing where she called nonstop for a short period and then went around to rest for a couple of minutes before she called back in full voice.
“It must be urgent if they keep calling you so much,” Genevieve said.
Jessica hated that she had decided to bring her phone to the dining room today. She usually left it upstairs.
“I am sorry to disturb your dinner” They all turned to see one of the house staff standing there. He bowed and waited to be asked to speak.
“What do you want?” Dawson asked taking a sip of his water from the glass before him.
“A woman had been at the same making a scene nonstop for the past thirty minutes. She is claiming to be the aunt of the young lady”
Immediately Jessica heard the word aunt she found herself on her feet and navigating her way outside. Everyone at the table instinctively followed her.
Did her aunt really come? The questions plaque their minds but the only way to answer was for them to see for themselves.
“Oh Jessica, did you change your number? I have been trying so hard to reach you for two months now but you have been ignoring my calls, my text messages, and my DMs on social media” she said as soon as she laid eyes on Jessica.
“What do you want? What are you doing here?” Jessica cried out. “Why are you here? How did you find this place?”
“See how big the house is. Were you planning to live here all by yourself?” she slurred out.
Jessica wished for sudden destruction of the world so they could all go away and her embarrassment would stop. Aside from the fact that she had so many flaws her Aunt was the one who made those flaws obvious.
“Please leave and we can meet you tomorrow,” Jessica said turning away.
“Are you going to leave me out here? I am your only family now” she screamed after her as she walked away.
Xavier Dawson and Genevieve watched the interaction.
“I’m your aunt” she screamed with urgency. Her meal ticket was slipping away from her and she did not like it a bit.Content provided by NôvelDrama.Org.
“Are you all going to watch her treat me so awfully? I am her family and I have been trying my best to get in touch with her” she continued screaming.
“What should we do with her chairman?” a staff asked.
“Kick her out,” Jessica said without looking back. “I do not want to see her or talk to her now. I’ll do so later”
The staff looked to Dawson for confirmation. When Dawson was around the other’s commands always came second to his.
“Open up the gate,” Dawson said.
“Wait Dawson I can explain” Jessica rushed to his side.
“Open up,” Dawson said in a final tone
“Thank you” she said as she pushed herself in. She pressed down her hair and smoothened her skirt before walking towards them.
“Jessica, why did you treat me that way?” Olivia began but Jessica walked out on her. “How dare you? When did you become so rude?” she screamed at her retreating figure.
“Oh so sorry about that,” she said when she saw the expression on Xavier and Dawson’s faces.
Three of them said no word and walked inside. “Is everyone here just rude or what?” she murmured to herself and followed them.
Jessica had angrily climbed up the stairs. Was this the way everyone would be aware of the kind of horrible background she came from? She felt so ashamed that a plan to escape in the dead of the night brewed in her mind.
If she was leaving she had to take Olivia along with her or else the woman would suck dry the Delgado family. She began to feel her blood pressure rise.
“We have not finished eating dinner so why are you here?”
Jessica turned around to see Xavier standing there watching her as she paced the whole floor of the room.
“How can I eat dinner? That woman, we should not have let her in at all. She has a truck of issues which she will definitely spread to us all” Jessica rambled on.
“Calm down,” Xavier said walking towards her. He took her hands in his and steadied her “Take a deep breath” he said.
She found herself closing her eyes and trying her best to be at peace. The thought of Olivia downstairs sent shivers down her spine. To her, it was like a scene from a horror movie waiting to explode in their faces.
“Do you not trust us?” he asked causing her eyes to shoot open.
Did she trust them? Yes, she did but she did not know if she wanted to trust them with this particular task.
“Xavier it’s not about the trust. This woman has been the greatest discomfort in my life and I do not want to bring my issues to the Delgado family. You and Dawson have been nothing but kind to me so why would I try to burden you” she continued her ramble.
She was nervous and rambling was the best way to sort out the emotions she felt. She knew she needed to stay cool headed but she could not do so at the moment. She needed that woman out and away from this house and her life.
“Jessica, let us try our best to finish dinner, and then by tomorrow morning we will know what to do about the situation. Okay?” His words comforted her and she was glad.
“Okay”
