Chapter 69 Bite a Mouthful
“Let go of me!” Ranita exclaimed, her eyes burning with anger and anxiety as she pushed against Brendon’s chest. Brendon, usually composed, felt a chill run down his spine under her intense gaze and quickly released his grip.
“Ah!” With the sudden release, Ranita lost her balance and fell backward.
Reacting swiftly, Brendon reached out to catch her, but in his haste, they both tumbled onto the sofa together. The weight of his body pressed down on Ranita’s head, leaving her feeling disoriented and unable to think clearly.
Brendon’s proximity was unsettling; his breath almost touching her face, his lips mere inches away from hers. Their breaths intertwined, creating a fluttering sensation within Ranita that she couldn’t explain.
She dared not move, her heart racing like a rollercoaster – up one moment and down the next.
Brendon remained motionless, his gaze fixed on her without blinking, as if he were made of ice – cold yet beautiful, like snowflakes falling to the ground.
Suddenly, Ranita widened her eyes, unable to contain her frustration any longer. “Brendon, get up! Are you even human?!”
Ranita was so furious that she felt like biting Brendon.
Brendon’s face darkened, and he wasn’t feeling great either.
His pride in self-control crumbled to dust, and he deeply regretted it. He felt as though he had lost all dignity in front of Ranita.
Dizzy and weak, Ranita leaned against him without resistance. Her fingers scratched at him, as if trying to relieve an itch, causing Brendon’s heart to skip a beat.
His breathing grew heavier as he gazed into her dark eyes. They had been intimate for three years, yet instead of restraining himself, Brendon’s aggression was increasing. This infuriated Ranita, prompting her to push her knee against his leg.
“Brendon! Let go…” Her voice trailed off as his lips brushed against her cheek and landed on her earlobe.
Her skin felt soft and tender under his teeth, leaving a red mark where he bit down – something Brendon often did playfully. It used to be cute and playful between them, but now it only annoyed Ranita.Material © NôvelDrama.Org.
Her eyes turned red with anger as she forcefully pushed him away. She glared at him fiercely but remained silent.
Brendon felt like a cat scratched by its claws – hurt but unwilling to let go of the playful game they were engaged in. This new side of Ranita made things more interesting than before!
As their eyes met, the ambiguous tension dissipated, leaving behind a cold stillness. The atmosphere outside the office mirrored this frigidity.
Julia Parker, the secretary, cautiously glanced at Shannon and lowered her voice. “Miss Murphy, I told you it’s not a good idea to go in…”
Shannon’s face turned cold as she spun around and stormed off toward the elevator.
Just before reaching the elevator doors, she abruptly turned back to Julia. “Julia, forget everything that just happened! If I hear any rumors spreading…”
Julia quickly feigned ignorance. “Miss Murphy, what happened? I didn’t understand what you were talking about!”
