Chapter 300
Chapter 300
Chapter 300 Even though Sage found that Kane’s present was a little out of the place, Sage was quite fond of the crossbow.
Kane was always a fan for weapons and tools. When Sage just turned four and was able to hold things properly in her hands, Kane put a gun in her hand at her birthday party. Sage recalled that at that moment, the air grew cold immediately. Now that twenty years passed, Kane still gave her tools as gifts. However, the crossbow was much more useful than being given a gun. “Don’t underestimate this crossbow. It looks like a slingshot but it works like a gun.”
Kane then started to teach Sage how to use the crossbow. “You just have to press here. If you want to prank people, you can put toothpicks in here; but if someone angers or annoys you, you can put needles in here. It can pierce through their flesh perfectly.”
Kane and Sage were fumbling with the crossbow whereas the rest of the gang slowly moved away as they did not want to be caught in the crossfire.
Sage quickly understood how the crossbow worked. Picking up a toothpick and placing it into the slot, Sage aimed at a bottle of drink on the table and pulled the trigger.
The bottle was pierced through and liquid started seeping through the hole.
Seth, Nigel, and Luther instinctively took a step backward. Based on their past painful and terrifying experiences, it was best for them to stay away from Sage and Kane if they want to live a few years longer. “So? Not bad, right?” Kane looked pleased. Sage put down the crossbow and studied it carefully in her hand. It was small and delicate and was easy to bring around too. Sage nodded happily, “Yeah, it’s good. I like it, thanks, Kane!” “No worries.”
Kane tugged at the corners of his lips. At the sight of the table full of food, his eyes lit up. “Did you make all these? When can we start eating? I’m dying of hunger!”
Sage then kept, then put away the crossbow and replied, “We can start, but let me go check on the soup, then we can start eating.” Right then, Jim walked out of the kitchen with a tray of bowls of soup. “Sage, are we starting dinner?” Sage nodded, “Yeap.” Noticing that Sage wore the necklace he gave her, Jim beamed, “Alrighty, I’ll bring out the cake now.” Taking a glimpse at Jim, Nigel asked, “I’ve been meaning to ask who that handsome young lad
is.
Sage only then realized that she was yet to introduce them to each other. Patting Jim on his shoulder, she smiled, “This is Myles’s apprentice, Jim Sylas. He is a basketball player. Be nice
to him, okay? Don’t make it difficult for him.”
Blushing, Jim greeted the gang. Nigel teased, “Woah, aren’t you Myles’ master? Since when did you become a grand-master huh? Aren’t you moving up the ladder too fast?” “Whatever you say, Nigel. Anyway, don’t you even think of trying to take advantage of my apprentice.”
Sage shot a warning glare at her brothers then said to Jim, “Pay no mind to their words, it’s just how they talk, they don’t mean no harm. Anyway, since they are not related to the Damian family, you can just address them casually.” Jim nodded obediently. “You guys should go ahead and start eating. I’ll go get the cake.” ;
As soon as Jim left, Nigel gave an eye to Sage. “Look at you protecting him!” Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.
Sage replied, “Well, of course. I won’t let you nasty people bully my kid.” “Fine, fine, we won’t.” Nigel opened up a bottle of red wine and Sage started pouring them into her brothers’ wine glasses. Taking off his wet outer coat, Kane asked, “Is big brother not coming?”
“Don’t think so,” replied Sage, “I talked to him on the phone this morning. He’s in the middle of something and won’t be able to make it.”
Luther wrinkled his nose. “It’s just an excuse that he uses. He doesn’t want to meet the rest of us, does he? He only wants to meet with you alone. He only sees you as his sibling whereas the rest of us just come with the package.” Nigel retorted, “Nah, I don’t think that we come with the package. We might be picked up from the dumpster.”
Seth smiled lovingly and said, “There now. Let’s not blame him, shall we? He never really enjoyed crowds, did he? I’m worried that he would turn this gathering into a meeting.” . “Exactly. It doesn’t matter if he’s not here, what matters is his gift. Did you get a gift from him?” Kane asked. Nodding, Sage replied, “I did.”
What is it?” The brothers all had their eyes fixed on Sage with curiousness written all over their faces. Sage replied, “An island.”
The four brothers had their lips pressed tightly together as they exchanged looks with each other. Raising their glasses at the same time, they cheered, “Come on, let’s drink.” Sage could not help but burst into laughter seeing how her brothers were looking jealous. Her eldest brother always made it obvious that Sage was his favorite. The rest were always unhappy with it but they could not bring themselves to say anything.
