Chapter 571
Chapter 571
Parker knew why Meredith looked uneasy.
Perhaps he was a little too hasty.
Pushing her too hard could backfire. So Parker did not insist on asking her to stay. Copyright by Nôv/elDrama.Org.
"Okay, but if you're in trouble, remember to call me. I'll be right over."
Meredith nodded and watched Parker leave the hospital.
Fatigued from running about all day, Meredith walked into the ward and lay down on a nursing bed.
She closed her eyes.
But in her mind, she seemed to see Evelyn in Derek's arms, gloating at her...
Meredith took a deep breath and quickly emptied her mind. She struggled to fall asleep.
...
The next morning, at the Xaviers's mansion.
Derek woke up with a headache, for he drunk too much last night.
He was impatient. As he wanted to sit up, a sudden dizziness overcame him and he fell down.
He didn't drink the ginger soup that Violet ordered the servants to prepare for him yesterday.
He reached out and stroke his forehead. A faint sneer hangs on the lips as he felt the scorching
temperature.
Derek rarely got sick. Probably because he was drunk and drenched in the rain yesterday, plus he was
in a bad mood, he had a fever.
However, he did not take it seriously. Instead, he struggled to stand up and walked out calmly.
Maybe he was angry with himself or something.
As soon as he left, Violet, who was sitting in the living room, stopped him. "Why are you in such a hurry
to leave? I just asked the nanny to make you something you like. You can go to work after you finish
eating."
Derek was about to refuse when Violet added, "You haven't ate at home for a long time. Just stay here
with me."
Violet's expression made it impossible for Derek to say no.
They sat at the table and ate breakfast.
Looking at him, Violet said with concern, "Derek, are you feeling unwell? You don't look well. Why don't
you stay at home and rest today?"
Derek shook his head.
Now, he needed to do something to divert his attention. Otherwise, his mind would be full of things
related to Meredith, making him unable to calm down.
Knowing there there was no use in persuading him, Violet asked the servant to bring Derek the
medicine.
She saw Derek off with a worried look.
She wondered if Meredith was so important to him, so much so that his health was affected.
Just as she was thinking about it, the servant suddenly hurried over. "Madam, a woman who claims to
be from the Smiths is outside and wants to see you."
the Smiths?
Violet remembered the phone call that Old Master had with Capital City.
Was that the lady from the Smiths here?
Violet's face lit up with joy. "Invite her in."
After thinking about it, she decided to go out and see what the person looked like.
Evelyn sat in her limited edition global car and saw a dignified lady coming out of the door. Talking a
closer look, she found there was some resemblance between her and Derek.
Evelyn immediately walked over with a smile. "Hello, I'm Evelyn," she said politely.
Violet sized up Evelyn. From the way she was dressed, and the luxurious car, she was sure Evelyn
was from a wealthy family.
More importantly, she was satisfied with her attitude.
Violet took to Evelyn immediately.
"You must be Miss Smith. I heard Old Master mention you."
Evelyn was flattered. "Really? I'm here to visit some elders today."
With that said, she took out a carefully prepared gift. Seeing how polite she was, Violet immediately
invited her in.
They hit it off and had a great conversation.
In the middle of their conversation, Evelyn 's phone rang. It was from Meredith.
Amelia was examined again today. The doctor said the operation must be put into agenda after a few
more days of stable treatment. Otherwise, there would be risks.
So Meredith immediately asked her about the bone marrow donation.
Seeing that it was Meredith's call, Evelyn went out and answered it.
"When exactly are you coming to the hospital to give my mother a bone marrow transplant? There's no
time to delay now."
"I told you, when Derek and I get engaged, I will donate her bone marrow."
Meredith clenched her lower lip. Whether they would get engaged was still unknown.
"What if you two can't get engaged? Will you never transplant bone marrow for my mom? In that case,
she will die!"
"That's your mother, not mine. What about her has nothing to do with me."
Evelyn said indifferently. Spoiled by the Smiths, she did not know suffering of the world, nor would she
stand in other's shoes.
"But she is..."
Meredith was so angry that she almost blurted out the truth.
Amelia was her birth mother.
But she held back.
"She is. What is she?" asked Evelyn.
Evelyn frowned, feeling that Meredith had something to say.
"Nothing."
Meredith felt that it was not a good time to tell the truth, so she bit the words back. "Please get
engaged to Derek quickly. Time waits for no man!"
After that, Meredith hung up.
Evelyn took a look at the number. She wanted to settle the matter as soon as possible, but Derek was
too cold to her. She had to make sure Meredith stayed sway from him so that she could have a chance.
"Evelyn, are you in trouble?"
Seeing that Evelyn had not returned for a long time, Violet walked out.
In just a short while, Violet was very satisfied with Evelyn, who had a good family background, good
looks, and was very obedient to her. In her mind, the Xaviers would be benefited a lot because of
Evelyn. In short, she was much better than that troublemaker, Meredith.
Evelyn shook her head. "It's from my family. It's okay."
"If you're not busy in a while, I'll bother you to send some medicine to Derek. He was drenched in the
rain yesterday, and now he has a cold. I prepared some medicine for him, and he may not have taken
it. I'll be relieved if you're with him."
Evelyn was overjoyed. Violet's words showed that the elders of the Xaviers expected to see things
work out between her and Derek.
