In her previous life, that was how Mayra was
After breakfast, Mayra donned on her black school uniform, which had an open collar. A silver chain hung on her tie, and the golden school badge was pinned on her chest. Compared to the uniform of a public school, this was more detailed.
Sitting in the car, Mayra watched the scenery outside the window. Next to her, Anderson, in his black shirt and jacket, reached out and stroked her
hair.

While driving, Hailey stole a look through the rearview mirror at the man seated behind. Then, she quickly looked away and focused on driving.
Mayra rested her chin on her palm. “Andy, you know that I don’t like to interact with people.”
Pursing his lips, Anderson nodded. “The school management isn’t strict. If you feel bored having lunch alone at noon, you can come over to my office
to look for me.”
Mayra shook her head. “No.”
Hailey interjected, “Mr. Barlow is free during lunchtime. If you find it a hassle, I can pick you up later, Ms. Sadler.”
“It’s alright. I would prefer to familiarize myself with the school’s surroundings,” Mayra said.
Anderson agreed, saying, “That’s good as well. Don’t place so much pressure on yourself in school. I’m rich enough to support you.”
Whenever Anderson was nice, he was usually irresistible to women. Given his status, anything he offered was something that others couldn’t dream
of affording. So, anyone would be attracted to a man like him.
At Belchester High School, Hailey passed Mayra over to her homeroom teacher and returned to the car after making sure everything was in place.
Mayra could easily adapt to strange environments. After she was brought to her class, she introduced herself simply and chose a seat next to the window which she had taken before.
Back then, she simply needed to look out the window, count to three, and Gordon would appear before her.
The school didn’t have strict rules about cell phones as long as they weren’t used during classes. It was just that the phone of some
troublemakers kept ringing.
This school was just as Anderson made it out to be. Studying here wasn’t too stressful. The students just needed the self–awareness to improve themselves.
When class was over, a small group of people, boys and girls included, gathered next to Mayra’s desk and checked her out.
“The new student is pretty. I stole quite a few looks at her during class earlier.”
“I really want to stroke her face. It must be as soft as my puppy at home.” “Hey, don’t be rude to the new school belle.”
“I–I’m going to use the washroom.” Holding her phone in her hand, Mayra bolted out of the classroom.
“She looks so pretty when she runs.”
Mayra hadn’t expected the students here to be so friendly. She sat on the closed toilet seat and sent a text to Gordon, “Are you in Candor City now? How’s Mrs. Thorp’s treatment going?”
In the president’s office at Everton Corporation, Shane finished with his

report on other matters.
Hailey added in a business–like tone, “A few of Ms. Sadley’s classmates‘ families are partners with the subsidiaries of Everton Corporation. I’ve made the necessary arrangements. Ms. Sadler won’t be an outcast in school and will finish her three years of high school happily.”
“You’re just like your mother. You can easily guess what’s on the minds of
any man.” Anderson set down the cup in his hand and stood up, staring down at Hailey.
Catching the hint in Anderson’s eyes, Shane turned and left the office.

held her chin, the ring on his ring finger gleaming with a silvery the husk lúe gaze fired on her face, which had light makeup on Instead of being the rich, young lady of the Barlow family, you’ve stayed humbly as my assistant for three years. What can you gain by doing this?”
Three years ago, when Anderson returned to Everton Corporation, Howard placed his daughter by his side.
As Anderson tightened his grip, Hailey’s brows knitted together slightly. In a calm voice, she answered, “Andy, I’ve never thought of gaining anything by being by your side. I sincerely want to stay with you and be your assistant.”
Anderson snorted in laughter and released his grip. There was an unruly look in his eyes. During the first 12 years of his life, he was nurtured as the heir of the Barlow family. In the 13 years that followed, he tried his best to disguise himself and escape from those who wanted to get rid of him.
During those 13 years when he was wandering, he was no different from the city gangsters.
He had never been a kind–hearted person. Moreover, Hailey was the adopted daughter of his enemy. Even though she wasn’t related by blood to the Barlow family, she wouldn’t have had the right to step through the Barlows‘ doors without Renee’s permission.
Suddenly, Anderson lowered his body, and Hailey staggered backward in panic. Her heel knocked against the couch, and she fell sitting on it, her eyes filled with trepidation.
When she wanted to stand up, Anderson bent over and blocked her
escape. Placing his palms against the backrest of the couch, he stared at

“Did you never think of it or do you just not have the guts to do it? Hailey, has anyone ever told you that you have beautiful eyes?” He held her face and ran the tip of his thumb under her eyes. Her sensitive eyes blinked a few times to the rough texture of his fingertip.
“Andy, please watch your actions. You’re already engaged.”
Hailey struggled to get up, but he stopped her. She didn’t have the strength to go against him at all.
Since Anderson took over Everton Corporation, he had never gotten into any sex scandal. Only Hailey knew what kind of person he was in private.
Anderson loosened his tie, which made him look no different from a ruffian. “Renee could seduce a married man. Didn’t you learn anything
from her?”
“Andy, we haven’t found the murderer from back then, and everything is still unknown. I don’t believe my mother to be such a person. Please… give me some time, and I’ll find the real culprit.”
Hailey’s hands were pushing against his chest. Her heart was pounding, and even her breathing was ragged.
“Have you heard that a daughter has to take over her mother’s debts?”
Like a madman, Anderson ripped her collar suddenly, and a button rolled onto the carpet. “Stop, Andy!”
His unpredictable temper made Hailey think that he had lost his mind. When he leaned over her, a knock came on the door.
“Get lost!” Anderson barked.
“It’s me, Andy! What’s happening?”
Upon hearing his angry tone from the room, Isabel thought he was throwing a temper because his headache spells were acting up again.
